About GameGrep

GameGrep is a Community News Site (also known as a "Social News Site") for gamers. News is submitted by any registered member and published by approvers who look after reviewing submissions. Once published, every article is on its own! GameGrep's special "article activity" system will track how active an article is. This is the number you see to the left of each article. It combines the number of ratings along with how much buzz is generated by each article to give you an idea of just how interesting an article might be. If you're already familiar with Digg.com, and sites like reddit and del.icio.us you already know a little about social news and social bookmarking. Think of GameGrep as the Digg for Gamers, a social news destination for gaming news and latest happenings.

Each social news site has its own system in place and GameGrep is no different! Here, every published article shows up on the homepage immediately. After it has been exposed for a while news articles have a chance of becoming stale. Only interesting and freshly posted articles can stay on the homepage. In this way each article has a chance to catch its 10 minutes of fame. The frontpage is thus controlled by the community's involvement!

In addition to the article activity system, members gain points for their participation on GameGrep. Although points have no real world purpose, they serve as a reflection of a member's activity and contributions to the system. We also use a rank system determined by points. We think the ranks and points make the site pretty darn fun, try it out and you'll see what we mean! Some of GameGrep's additional features are made available only at higher ranks. There are 82 ranks in all, we REALLY doubt anyone is going to make it to the top 10 levels.

As part of this user activity system user's have their own profile page with activity log and individualised info. Now you can see the top stories posted by your friends, and also track your own progress as you attain new ranks and watch your articles attain high levels of activity! If you're a Neoseeker member your Neoseeker profile will also link to your GameGrep profile and vice versa. We're not even done with integration yet so stay tuned for all the great Neoseeker and GameGrep integration features to come!
