Default Prime writer Kyree Leary has recently been thinking about bosses in video games. Specifically, how many of them cause him to not finish the game. From Final Fantasy to Shank, Kyree goes on a rant about his problem with some of their bosses.

"GamingUnion: "It's a well known argument that JRPG fans haven't really had much in the way of home console hits this generation. Only recently have publishers begun to announce highly anticipated titles such as The Last Story and Xenoblade Chronicles – albeit only in Europe. Now I've heard this complaint many times and what I find is that many a JRPG fan simply don't bother to look elsewhere, especially when that elsewhere is a portable device. Sony's PSP and Nintendo's DS systems are breedin..."

"I’ve been pretty clear on the fact that I love Fallout in all its forms. From the classic turn-based RPG by Interplay to the first-person sequels by Bethesda. When I heard that there was a game called S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl that would let me wander around a radioactive wasteland using a mix of first person shooting, RPG and free roaming I was terribly excited because it sounded a lot like Fallout 3. I’m afraid that I wasn’t cool enough to have played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. when it came..."

"Underwater, Skyrim is devoid of the life that makes the world above so interesting. Submerge, and suddenly the brilliance of the wind swirling across the ice melts into nothing but a heaving vastness of unbroken brown. Beneath the surface, beneath the sea, there is nothing."

It was recently announced that the Xbox 360 has topped all consoles in worldwide sales last year for the first time since 2006. This would have been huge news just a few years ago. What happened to the console war?

"Ask yourself, if you will; what is a game?

I suppose you could see the question from any number of angles, any number of interpretations. You could view it mechanically – a typical game involves an actor, maybe several, multiple mechanics, parameters. You could take each individual aspect of a game and put a magnifying glass to it. Or you could take it at its most literal definition; something to be played."

Waiting to get that 3DS? Well gamers it looks like the price at one retailer has come down to less then $150 and this includes the new pink 3DS. Could this be the hinting of a universal price drop or in fear of what the Vita might do? Will Amazon drop the price as well?

"GamingUnion: "Incase you hadn't already known, Soulcalibur V was recently released and instead of featuring it in our last Cast List, which was Final Fantasy XIII, we decided that this week would be much more suitable for the title.""

"GamingUnion: "Potentially, Persona 3 could have been a train wreck. A spinoff of the Shin Megami Tensei series, it features randomly generated stages, with a huge focus on dungeon crawling. One only need to look at the Western reviews (and sales) of such conceptually similar titles like Azure Dreams (PSOne), or The Nightmare of Druaga (PS2) to see that Western JRPG fans traditionally haven't cared for these types of games.""

"When it comes to the marketing side of things, box art has played almost as big a part of game sales as the design and programming of the titles themselves. In the early days of the industry, it wasn't uncommon for games to have imagery that conveyed completely unrealistic ideas of what the gameplay was actually like."

"An amazing thing happened recently. I bought Rayman: Origins, put it in my PlayStation 3 and was playing the game in mere moments. It wasn’t until later that I realised something incredible had occurred; I didn’t have to wait to play the game. I thought back to my actions: I put the disc in the console, started the game and then played it. Nothing barged between me and my entertainment. No online passes fell out the case to force me into redeeming fiddly little codes to access features I alre..."

Ryan made his list of Top 5 PS2 Fails, showcasing the worst of the hardware for his favorite console. Now, like an apologetic lover, he comes back with his Top 5 Wins, things he feels Sony did right with their second foray into the gaming market. Will his PS2 forgive him? Will he realize that he's apologizing to plastic and computer chips?

""In the last couple of years we have been seeing a trend in which interest in JRPGs has been waning, even in their home country. Final Fantasy XIII-2 has been focus tested and tweaked to supposedly meet gamers expectations, but if the game suffers weak sales in North America, we may be seeing a worldwide decline in the genre.""

""In the end, I fully believe that we have to do something about these issues or our industry is going to fall apart," he said. "People often don't understand the cost that goes into creating these huge experiences that we put on the shelves for only $60. They also don't seem to realize how much they are hurting us when they buy a used game and how pirating a copy is just plain stealing.""

"I began playing a game yesterday, a game lauded by many, so I decided that I should have a go at it as well: LA Noire. Now, truth be told, open world games have stopped captivating my interest these last few years (yes, I’m counting Skyrim as well). The problem is that this kind of game tends to sacrifice storytelling for freedom. After playing New Vegas a while back, I said to myself that I’d rather play a completely linear story that at least has more depth than 50 square miles that are as ..."

"GamingUnion: "Here we are again, it's time for my League of Legends blog. Although, I will admit that this week I'm not really looking forward to it. I decided after the last post that I'd try something new, and I didn't have the best of experiences.""

"GamingUnion: "After being rumoured for quite a while, Resident Evil 6 was announced by Capcom a short while ago. But it feels like there are only two reasons that Resident Evil 6 is happening the way it is. And by that, I mean, with such brazen force and action-oriented style.""

Collector's Editions have become the norm this gaming generation. Everything from RPGS to FPS games, everything has a CE these days. The question is do gamers really want collector's editions? If they truly do then what needs to be in the CE to make it sell and worth the $80-$100 gamers are forced to shell out.

Ever since the early console games, bosses have been a staple of video gaming. However, there's always at least one that really makes you scratch your head and wonder what's wrong with the sucker.
