Though that doesn't stop me from playing Guitar Hero and enjoying it. I'm not playing it to be like a real guitar player - I playing it to have simple easy fun.
I was going to add that I agree with spong.com's answer to Meyer's statement:
Damn right.
He is probably jealous because people are just playing Guitar Hero rather than grabbing a guitar like him. Lol, idiot.
While we're at it, why play Gran Turismo or Forza when you can hop behind a Ferrari and drive it around Laguna Seca? Or why play Madden when you can strap on pads and hit other guys? Or why play Super Mario when you can experience the same thing by indulging in a little LSD?
Playing real guitar is MORE THAN LEGAL, it's recommended.
I have no problems with Guitar Hero, but I still think it's a waste and I'll never waste one second of what could be wasted on real guitar for playing a plastic controller. I think only people who can't afford learning guitar, or just don't physically fit to play guitar should be playing this game, though it's good for knowing new songs but you got a lot of ways for that other than wasting hours on playing a plastic controller, trying to play all the notes from a song that the people who made it can't get it right without record+fast forward. Rock Band's drums for example aren't bad because it CAN teach you a few lessons about drums, that's why I think Rock Band > Guitar Hero.
B.B. King, Steve Ray Vaughn, etc... They're legends. John Mayer is a pretty boy who learned a couple of scales.
I suppose that kills any chance of any of his songs being in the game lol (oh well, I'll live)
Well I guess that seeing as I play GTA, I must be a wannabe psychopath.
If you play a real guitar you gain the satisfaction of using and improving a viable artistic talent, one which (though quite unlikely) could turn into a career.
If you play Guitar Hero you get a different satisfaction through gaining points, advancing through songs, and having fun with your friends.
A significant amount of people who play GH would not take up a real guitar even if they didn't have GH in the first place. All GH does is give people a way to halfheartedly feel like rockstars, and have fun with friends while doing it. We're not trying to infringe on the coolness of you 'real guitarists', so stop taking yourselves so seriously and kindly *bleep* off.
"A significant amount of people who play GH would not take up a real guitar if they didn't have GH in the first place."
Call me crazy, but isn't that a good thing? How is that different than say a wrestling fan taking up wrestling because he likes to watch/play it?
But no, I don't agree with him. I realize there might be some people who think they're a little too ko0ol for flying through GH on Expert, but most of the people who play the game really don't think of themselves as equals to real guitarists, I find.
As for a real instrument, I play the Piano, so he can shove his comments up his arse.
I mean you got kids who are playing this with their folks right? How many off them are going to turn around and say :Hey! this is fun! I want to learn how to play the real guitar!
I guess we should not listen to music seeing as we can go out and make it ourselveS?
And Tek, even if he's being payed he's still being a douche.
