Why the PSP is a better portable console than the DS

Gaming Verdict breaches the sensitive subject of which is the better portable console, deciding that overall the PSP just scrapes a win over Nintendo's excellent fliptop handheld.
I love the DS, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Overall, I’d have to say it’s without a doubt a better console than the PSP simply because of its excellent games catalogue and innovative charms. But the best portable console? That honour most certainly goes to the PSP.

There really isn't a lot of content in this article, to be honest. You could basically boil the entire thing down to "I like playing PSP on the bus more than DS" and "I like PSP games better than DS games right now", neither of which are much more than personal opinion. He doesn't even provide reasoning for his "better game" theory, much less any actual evidence to support his reasoning, leading even further down the road of personal preference.

Whether or not you agree with this guy, you have to admit there really isn't much of a verdict in this article.

True that. Also there's two things wrong with the article: 1. It's from the perspective of a guy who's playing it nearly exclusively on the train. 2. He's had the DS for 4 years whereas he just recently bought the PSP. Of course it's novelty won't wear off so soon.

Also, the title of the article is misleading. Aside from saying the PSP funstions better than the DS on a train, there's really no reasoning. Quite simply put, it's just his opinion and not the end-all DS vs. PSP argument.

You can claim the PSP is the superior console all you want. It's not a hard sell; it's multifunctional and a slick little gadget.

...However it will only make the sting that the DS is lapping it in sales that much more painful. Choose your perspective.

I like the ds because of unique gaming and Cheap price.

However..the psp can play music and it has better graphics. But I don't feel like playing an almost exact portable version of a console game and that there are not many "must have" games for the psp.

Whether or not it having enough info on here is irrelevant when you think about all the features the PSP has, compared to DS. In the end overall the PSP just has more features which would make the PSP a better handheld system, however considering the lack of great must buy PSP titles, the nintendo DS is just more popular and has more sales.

Its like the same argument with 360 and PS3, now you can say the PS3 has a ton of features which might land it being better to the 360 but considering its lack of a good library, the 360 is more popular and has more sales.

"Sure, the nubby little analogue stick is far from being perfect, but do you know what? It’s a damn site easier to use than a touch screen."

anywho the psp is clearly superior to eh DS in every way imaginable. The DS has a bigger library.. but keep in mind its oversaturated with cheap quick cash-in titles. The psp, for the most part, lacks said cash-cow titles. Its library isn't huge, but you can be sure that at least 9/10 of those titles are of a much higher quality than the average DS game.

that isn't to say the DS doesn't have any good games, and the psp has no shitty ones.
I'm just saying if you pick a random psp game, and buy it, you're probably going to get a lot out of it. if you pick a random DS game, and buy it, you're probably an idiot.

I love how we both state the same thing, but you get praised for your comment, where as in less than hour it gets 3 thumbs down. Hell I pretty much gave DS the overall props.

Well as a handheld the PSP is better apart from the DS having a touch screen. But when it comes to games I think the DS is better.

When it comes to games I prefer my DS over MY PSP.But I like the features of the PSP better.

They are both good and bad in their own ways. I personally prefer the PSP over the DS. It just seems like there are better games out for the PSP.
