Two Classic Characters Return For Resident Evil 5's Mercenaries Reunion
21 hours 5 mins ago
GamesRadar takes a look at the history of console gaming and notices an interesting trend. Consoles with a white or grey finishes at their release have won nearly every hardware generation. A mere coincidence, or will history repeat itself once again?
Well, we can't make them quit babbling about 720p and backwards compatibility, but we can offer this observation to those who're willing to sit back and look at the big picture - the white console always wins. Every time, white or grey demolishes the opponent, who's usually draped in black. Maybe it's a light/dark subliminal suggestion, we're not sure, but with only one major exception the black console is handed its ass. Obviously we're not saying black plastic is the reason these machines lost... it's just a pretty damn startling coincidence.
Note: Before we even get into this, we'll openly acknowledge the obvious complaints we'll receive over elevating something "white" over something "black." To this, we say A: Grow up, B: Numbers don't lie and C: Some of our favorite consoles are black

There, I'm the first one here to extrapolate this and equate it as a racial commentary.
Secondly, not *all* white consoles have won, PS2 vs DC in this case
Third, the original DS was NOT white. The first DS lite however was. BUT if you compare sales between the DS Lite and the PSP the PSP is the winnar as it has been out longer
This brings me to my fourth and final point. Stop being idiots, Gamesradar. Wait, no that's not my point, sorry. Fouth point is how can you group two or more consoles, in this case 360 and Wii and compare it solely against the PS3? obviously the PS3 wont have sold as much as the two combined. Hell, the 360 has been out longer than the PS3....ugh, someone needs to punch the editor of Gamesradar in the head.
It's the one generation, "Sole" that upset the balance. At least they were ballsy enough to include the generation that disproved their theory.
As for the majority of the winners not being white, "Consoles with a white or grey finishes." The winners, save for the PS2, were either launched with a white or grey finish.
They totally had me.
They adressed the PS2 vs. DC. Did you read the whole thing?
Wasn't the DS grey? They said white/grey wins, sometimes there aren't white ones, only grey and black.
The PS3 hasn't sold as much as the Wii OR the 360 so it doesn't really matter whether you combine them or not.
It doesn't matter if it was "addressed" in the article the fact is the PS2 is black, as such it shouldn't even be a valid point listed in an article where they state "White consoles always win". The title specifically states "always wins".
And yes, it does matter if you combine them or not. That's like saying combined; yellow, orange, green, and blue skittles are better than red skittles. No, I did not read the entire thing, I don't waste my time reading trashy "journalism"
I'll just repeat what I said about the combining thing since I was right and you can't see that for some reason. Let me break it down for you.
XBOX (white) is beating PS3 (black) in sales.
There you go. The white one is winning! LOL!
If you actually did read and pay attention to the whole thing you would have realized that in one generation all of the non-white consoles combined actually beat the one white one. The white one still wins against them all individually. They are fully aware that they combined them and that it actually doesn't matter because the white one still wins.
Is this really a big deal to be upset about? Come on man, just because you get all upset about something so trivial doesn't mean it is wrong. Just move on.
Fact, White grey and Black consoles always win vs colored. However they don't win against each other cause truth be told it would end up being tied. So yeah Tek's right, the article is made of fail and trash.
When you say things like "The fact that the article title on both is both stupid" and "White grey and black consoles always win against colored. However they don't win against each other cause truth be told it would end up being tied." makes it alot easier for me to argue against since it makes no sense whatsoever. I won't even bother saying anything because it is clear you have an extra chromosome.
As far as titles of articles supposed to be telling you what the article is about. Where is that a rule? Since when? If I looked around I could probably give you a ton of examples of catchy articles that just try to draw attention without being 100% correct or telling you everything about the article. It's just a title. Get over it everybody.
Ding ding thats right, cause its wrong and makes NO *bleep*ing sense. I post articles here, you rarely do, so Tek and me knows exactly what were talking about.
I honestly never realized that.
I honestly don't know whether to put a
lol
Grey shouldn't even be included in the list if it's black vs white. But then, if they did that, black consoles would have won and it wouldn't have been a very "controversial" sounding article.
If I made a news announcement that said "Free Neoseeker T-Shirts Available NOW!" and you read through the thread only to find out that you get a free shirt after donating $100 or more, would you be ok with that too?
The fact is that GR is using false headlines to attract readers and yet they seem to think it's perfectly acceptable. This article should only have counted White vs every other colored console, which, if they did the article title would still be lying. Even if the title said "White or gray consoles always win" again, it would still be false information.
And, since we're going on the technicalities of "false" headlines, the gray used for gaming consoles is a shade of white, Just like how maroon is a shade of red.
As for the PS2 one, if you'd bothered to take 2 seconds to track down the last gen consoles, they made a good point. "You might say this staggering victory blows our whole theory out of the water. That's debatable, but let's sort this out. The only white console this generation was Dreamcast, released by Sega at the most inopportune moment and armed with technology that paled to the imminent PlayStation 2. So, it's not that the black console won, it's more that there was only one white option and it was doomed from the moment it was conceived."
But I will agree with you, Rhasiir, on the headlines bit. It's true, they make up headlines that'll get readers attention, and this one seems to have done the trick. Whether our reaction results in us being angry or not, we still get a reaction out of it and discuss it, and that's most journalists' highest goal.
Tek does have a point with the false headline, but again, that's just a 'strategy' that writers use to draw you in.
At least Nintendo in general and now the PSP have been getting colour makeovers ==
