Before plunging in the wide world of video games, why wouldn't you browse first on the top five games chosen by Edmonton's Gord Lacey.
He is the webmaster from the popular site TVShowsOnDVD.com who says there's only one other entertainment medium he enjoys more than television and, for him, it's video games.

Prince of Persia (Ubisoft; for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC; available this holiday)
Description:
Leave it to Ubisoft's multiple award-winning Montreal studio to create some of the most talked-about video game franchises in the biz, including Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six and Assassin's Creed, to name a few. Now the team is readying the next instalment in its beloved Price of Persia series (actual name is to be determined), bringing back its hallmark features such as cinematic (and acrobatic) moves as an ancient sword-wielding warrior. But this first title for next-generation consoles introduces a new illustrative look that resembles an animated film, a brand-new Prince not yet seen in the series and a female fighter for two-player tag-team moves.
Guitar Hero World Tour (Activision; all major platforms; available this November)
Description:
The sound of Slash's wailing axe may still be ringing in your ears from Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, but the next instalment of this music game phenomenon is around the corner. Similar to MTV Games' Rock Band, Guitar Hero World Tour will add drums and vocals to the guitar (but all peripherals will be wireless), so you can jam with friends in front of the same television or online.
