The trophies have to actually exist before we can become whores. I've got 5 or 6 from Super Stardust HD, the only game I believe that has trophies at the moment.

Fatal Inertia has Achievements, but so far they're not linked to Trophies.

Just wondering (if anyone knows). If we already accomplished a trophy's goal, do we have to meet the goal again to get the trophy or do we get it automatically?

Say for instance, MGS4...I beat it on Boss Extreme and got the Big Boss Emblem...I'd rather not go through that hell again.

It depends on the game. Many will have to be redone, but games like Burnout with saves attached to your PSN ID will be retroactive. We're not sure about MGS but I hope I don't have to get some of the harder emblems again.

I think it already has lol.People are playing Super Stardust for hours on end to get trophies.

I'll admit that I booted up SSD HD to get some trophies, but I don't play the game for hours.I play till I get game over then quit and play it again later.

Besides, who really cares if people become trophy whores? There as always been achievement whores, so trophies whores doesn't matter.

Besides the only time it's really bad is if some guy has a massive ego because of all the trophies he has.

Why does it matter if gamers become trophy whores? How will it affect anyone?

I don't see the big deal, it extends the longevity of the game and that's a good thing.

Yeah I don't see the big deal either. People will start playing their games more thoroughly now. I class that as a massive plus. Instead of beating a game once and then moving onto the next people will now be playing again on Hard to get the Trophy. They'll be downloading additional content. I'm betting the Addon for Super Stardust has tripled in sales since 2.40 was released.
I really don't see any downside to Trophies. It's an excellent idea and will make games last a lot longer.

I find it funny how you uploaded a picture of Hayden Panettiere licking the Stanley Cup for an article talking about Trophies.

Anyway who cares, at least playing the games now is more worthwhile then it was previously, I just wish they implemented the ways for trophies as Criterion is doing. It seems they're the only ones doing it right.

I didn't realize that PS3 users were looked down upon because we could enter cheats? I thought everyone could. I haven't entered a cheat since GTA San Andreas and that was just for shits and giggles......not sure how that makes me less of a serious gamer though.

BTW I'd let Hayden Panettiere lick my trophy anyday!!!

I dont get it. Why would some one want to use a cheat code to beat a game? I only use them if im REALLY bored.

For those who don't feel like reading the article here's a summary:

"X360 is a better console because not as many people use cheatcodes and it comes with a headset...blah blah blah...I'm a raging fanboy and I'm bitter that PS3 has achievements now."

I think you hit the nail on the head.

Funny thing is they have a picture saying they got it from their friends save when they already set it up that its attached to the PSN ID and you will have to do the accomplishment on that PSN ID so no you can't just copy other peoples saves. Don't know how they will block it for the games that they say will unlock them after its patched if you have a save. We might have to do everything again. They block you from getting the trophies with cheats also.

Oh here from official PSN Blog

Will the patch automatically allocate unlocked trophies according to your saved files or would you have to do it again?

    No, Trophies aren’t retroactive.

Wait, so which games can you mash triangle and square to get more health? I haven't played any. This article is a tad biased if you ask me.

And who cares if we turn into trophy whores? It's a bigger incentive to play the games you own already(if they update for trophy support)
