I'm sure we've all heard the "Wii is for kids" stereotype. Heck, maybe some of us even agree with it. But will the stereotype ever go away? Or will Nintendo always be known as a company that "aims towards kids"?
It's a topic that often comes up in Wii forums, and is especially prevalent in Fatal Frame forums. Ever since it was announced that FFIV would be on the Wii, there has been an onslaught of fans who are unhappy with the game being on the Wii (even on Neoseeker). While some of that comes down to the fact that previous games in the series were on Playstation and Xbox, there also seems to be a genuine distate for such a "mature" game being on the Wii because "the Wii is a kids console" or "the Wii can't handle mature games" or "Wii owners aren't interested in Mature games".
It seems that, even with the handful of upcoming "Mature" (and M-Rated) games, that's not enough to change people's perceptions of the Wii being "made for kids".
Will the Wii ever shake off its "Wii is for kids" stereotype?

How can a console NOT support mature games... that just doesn't make (financial) sense.
It's pretty much the truth. Kids and families are surely the target customers for Nintendo, so why is a deal being made out of it? I think now that some older people will buy Nintendo's product because of when they used to play on the NES and what-not. The Wii is the only console next-gen which doesn't portray realism and people like the idea of just messing about.
Mature games =/= gore and swearing. There's a difference.
NO matter what you try to do with the Wii people will always associate for kids, just like 360 is for teenagers and PS3 for older people. Its just how it is, no amount of games will change that. You can try but will ultimately fail.
