One of the most hilarious aspects of the gaming industry are the numerous comments made by developers and publishers in respect to their products. Ranging from idiotic attacks on competition to egotistical ramblings, it seems every video game figurehead has to say something incredibly stupid.

GamesRadar has put together a list of the top 30 industry quotes for your reading pleasure. Check out the source for the full list.

Game industry publishers and developers say the darndest things - no, really. Whether they’re using ten-dollar words to hawk their products, provoking message boards or feigning ignorance through million-dollar egos, we look to these game makers with a vested interest. After all, they’re supposed to be looking out for the everyday gamer, right? Then why all the hilariously misguided potshots at competitors? What’s with treating your demographic like sheep? Who are you people?

Publishers - we understand that you’ll say just about anything to get us to buy your system, but please don’t undermine your own fan base. And developers - we know you’ve spent the last few years making a product that can easily be ripped apart by reviews and the internet. But please try not to take it as a personal attack.

With E3 just around the corner, we eagerly await the next crazy-talk from our beloved industry. That said here are our favorite foot-in-mouth comments from the past few years.

    Lol @ Kojima's awful dinner/console analogy

Bigger lol @ Sony saying they don't want to confuse people with Multiple hardware SKUs, and that the rumble was "so last generation"

One of the quotes that I thought was a bit sad was this:

    quote
"[PS3] is not a game machine. We've never once called it a game machine. I'm not going to reveal [the PS3's] price today. I'm going to only say that it'll be expensive. I'm aware that with all these technologies, the PS3 can't be offered at a price that's targeted towards households." – Kutaragi, on the average household
If your console is too expensive for the average household before it's even been released, then you've got a problem!

What, no "giant enemy crab" and "attack its weak point for massive damage" ?

    This article makes me sad.

    quote
"[People who play RPGs are] depressed gamers who like to sit alone in their dark rooms and play slow games. -- Hiroshi Yamauchi (former President of Nintendo), on RPG players
    Screw Nintendo then.

Personally, I would've been shocked if Denis Dyack wasn't on this list.

      The douche.

Yeesh, some pretty stupid statements here >_> Especially in hindsight >_> Jack Tretton's 'promise' to buy a PS3 that has been on the shelves for more than 5 minutes, for about 2x the price....Shoot, I wouldn't be surprised at all if some people tried to take him up on his 'offer' >_>

Whats with the "Gamers who play RPGs are depressed, play in dark rooms, and want to play things slowly" crack! I take offense! *turns off all the lights, levels up his character another 2000 times, and cries to himself about how pathetic his life is*

Penny Arcade did, remember? They ended up having to pay the check to charity themselves, if I am correct.

"[PS3 is] for consumers to think to themselves 'I will work more hours to buy one'. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else." – Kutaragi, on why you’re not working hard enough

Good Lord, isn't that a great feat.

“I don't let Mario just appear in any kind of game. Mario could not appear in Zelda games. They are two distinct game worlds.” – Miyamoto, on why you don’t see Mario in games more often

    Oh my.

Most of those comments are crazy indeed, they make up for a good laugh.
