Some fella over on Near Future Laboratory has managed to hack the original PlayStation controller so as to make the character in a given game move slower the longer you play.

For the technical bits on how its done, check the source.

So, this is my analog version of a playful Playstation 2 controller for the PSX project — the one that slows the analog part of the controller down over time so, you know..when I’m playing Katamari Damacy it’s a bit more realistic that the Prince gets tired or during GTA, my guy actually gets tired from running away from liquor store heists and stuff.

So thats what it is for, what I would have tried would be like trying to take the cheese from the trap yourself. But then again I am an idiot when playing multiplayer, except against spammers, but they are basically poor AI.

It sounds good, but I don't think it's going to be as good as it sounds initially.

It could get irriating at a late stage; I mean, however realistic it may be, who wants their character slacking off right at the end of a level at a boss etc. It will require careful planning, but if they do it right it will be brilliant.

I agree. It'd be REALLY bad when you face that big boss after playing for hours to get there . . .

But, like you said, I think if this were done right it could be really fun with the realism. Perhaps games should implement something like this in them automatically (maybe on like a hard difficulty level, to make it optional).

This sounds.. really interesting. I guess crazy things can happen when you toy with technology.

    This is pretty cool, IMO.

Another interesting idea would be to make the trigger buttons sometimes fail, to simulate weapons jamming. But I don't think that could be perfected. You'd probably just end up only being able to shoot 1/3 of the time, and you'd end up totally screwed.
