The article, written by EndSights.com's Aram Kuredjian, argues that gamers are unduly and unfairly attacking EA because of their sports franchises, pointing out the great games they have published in recent years like Rock Band, Orange Box, and upcoming games like Spore, Sims 3, and Dragon Age: Origins.
Some people just want to seem like rebels. Whether its a supposed boycott of a company, or merely hating a company for the sake of hating it (of course the excuse is usually because that said company is evil), some people just need to hate something to love well, something else.

And publishing is entirely different than developing (which is what folks are bashing when they go after EA, typically)..and should only have to do with them offering up money for the game, which basically makes them unrelated to the game itself and just an 'investor'..though I think they've likely breached what their level of involvement should be there at times, too..
and they done a piss-poor job at that, its more broken then a goodamn smashed bottle
the reason why we hate is because EA is the hollywood of video games
they make them for money
I do think that alot of people just jump on the "Hate EA" Bandwagon, Without them we may not have had such awesome games like Spore or The Sims. There Fifa sport games are good.
but none quite so much as EA, i mean christ, they need some originality with some quality
Keyword: published. The majority of what EA develops is half assed. The majority of games with their name on them are from companies they bought and use as their code monkeys. God forbid if the Take-Two acquisition goes through, then I will REALLY have reason to justify my disdain for EA.
Its as if they made KW and said "lets work on RA3 now and forget about Kanes Wrath"
People also bash EA for their incredibly stupid anti-customer protection.... uhhh i mean anti-piracy protection. Cmon people arent just going argueing for the sake of argueing, they are paying customers pissed off with the quality of service that this company provides.
The gripes with EA have more to do with the type of things DarkLordAkuma mentioned.
Screw EA.
On the other hand The horrendous support for their games as well as their online systems is plenty of reason to hate them. Because for as many good games as they put out they also fail to even try to fix the problems in games that are potentially good or even potentially better if but for one small thing. And it isn't as if they don't have the time or man power. It is really that they just don't care.
