It's no secret that "hardcore" gamers were disappointed with
Nintendo's E3 conference. But when presented with a small list of "hardcore" games that are being released on th Wii, many still found reasons to complain.
Alisha Karabinus of NintendoWiiFanboy has noticed that a fair few gamers have the belief that the Wii needs more action in it's titles.
Fatal Frame IV and
Disaster: Day of Crisis have been targetted recently, with some forum members claiming that the two games might be better if they had more action in them. (Despite neither game being from the Action category).
It's interesting to note that the most popular survival-horror series is
Resident Evil which has been leaning towards the Action genre in the last few years, yet many horror fans aren't willing to touch
Fatal Frame because of the lack of guns and weapons.
It's also interesting to note that little interest has been directed towards
Disaster: Day of Crisis due to it's main concept revolving around trying to survive various natural disasters.
So is it true that, when many "hardcore" gamers ask for "hardcore" games, they are merely interested in frag-fests and shooters?

We've heard some quiet rumblings that Fatal Frame IV might be better if it had a little more action (the whole point of the series notwithstanding). While it's certainly not the voice of the majority, we can't help but wonder if there is a perception that some of the self-proclaimed hardest-core gamers won't be happy with anything short of a frag fest, which means that developers may be looking at either FPS games and other titles built around violence for the core contingent, casual and party games for everyone else, and the titles that are more deeply nuanced are being shelved. That could explain a few things, such as the disappearance of Disaster: Day of Crisis, and the lack of love for a few ports/sequels that would be absolutely appropriate for Wii gamers.

I'm interested in it now that I've found out it isn't. XP
There have been those terrible spin-offs like Soul Calibur Legends (ew ew ew ew ew), and decent first attempts at utilizing the WiiMote for "hardcore" play like in Red Steel (hopefully the 2nd one will be a vast improvement).
I don't own a Wii myself, and most people I know, ranging from hardcore to casual (and everything in between), either have another console for regular gaming (so is the Wii just an accessory?) or simply don't game at all... which makes me wonder why they bought the damn thing to begin with.
If anything else it keeps people off my back while I'm playing my PS3. ^.^
Still 2 games isn't going to cut it, it needs a balance of all types and Im afraid the Wii won't get them.
