Nintendo's tremendously popular Wii console set a new bar for fun and interesting games; the motion sensor control scheme is what literally sells their titles.
Although the Nintendo Wii is big fun, and a big value, there are places it needs to be improved if Nintendo wants to keep up with its console competitors Sony and Microsoft; Nintendo's next console needs to keep up with graphics, or at least support 1080p resolution.
Read the full article for a look at what would make, and what should have been, Nintendo's Wii and future console even better.
"Nintendos ubiquitously popular Wii has been tearing up sales charts and one-upping the competition for the last two years. However, the world doesnt stop spinning just because youre #1. Its safe to say that the creative minds at Nintendo are feverishly dreaming up its next console, and if the companys drastic shift towards casual gaming and motion controls is any indication, the Wiis successor will undoubtedly deliver something unique and fresh. Sure, its probably a few years off, but that didnt stop us from brainstorming our very own list of what wed like to see in the Big Ns Wii follow-up."

It's kind of early to be thinking about this stuff though.
The Wii debuted in 2006, we'll hear something about a revamped Nintendo console or completely redesigned one within the next few years.
PLEASE Nintendo no more friend codes.
-better graphics
-more hardcore games
-able to use normal controls
-exterior hard drive
-better online system
If the next Nintendo console has those, then I'll be getting it.
This time around it would be nice if Nintendo games looked good. I know that Mario games (and most other first-party Nintendo games) should retain the cutesy graphics that they are known for, but this shouldn't hinder games that are supposed to look realistic. Fatal Frame is an example of this - It has some of the best graphics on Wii and still only looks only slightly better than a PS2 game. Regardless of what Wii owners say, graphics do matter. In this day and age we should expect better.
More hardcore games is a must. And cheap downgraded port of games like Dead Rising or Alone in the Dark do not count as hardcore games. Neither does games like Animal Crossing, Pikmin or Wii Music. (I'm slightly insulted that Cammy Dunaway thought hardcore gamers would be happy with Wii Music - they're not!)
Normal controls are desperately needed. Or at least the option to turn off motion control for the times when I can't be assed facing the Wiimote at the sensor bar and flailing my wrist (or in some cases, my arm) around.
Throw the Wii into a fire, and redesign from the ground up.
First: Better Graphics. Jesus, every Nintendo kid has to go on and on about how graphics mean nothing. Well, wtf, of course they mean something. I'd rather play Dead Rising on 360 with 1000 onscreen zombies compared to Dead Rising Wii with 10.
Secondly, better primary control scheme. I think the whole "lololol we have a gimmicky controller" is a bit old now, and every game company feels some odd urge to abuse it and make the game gimmicky as hell. "tilt the controller and use it as a sword!" No. I'd rather have normal controls, then an option to use a wii-mote for certain games.
Friendcodes? *bleep* off please. :<
Other than option to turn off motion control and using the regular controller for certain games, I think DD touched on everything that needs to be said.
Oh? I was under the impression that it was the exact opposite of that.
GBC could play GB games
GBA could play GBC games
DS can play GBA games
Whatever the next one is will surely be able to play DS games
And most of that was all before Sony and Microsoft had come out with their second consoles
That, and more storage space, full backwards compatibility, and maybe better graphics.
I don't know what they're going to do about the Virtual Console though, whether they make a way to trasfer the Wii Shop Channel data over to the "Super Wii" or just make us leave them on our Wii.
