Let me ask you something: Would you have ever heard of Media Molecule if it wasn't for LittleBigPlanet? Everyone is addicted to the game, and it's not even released yet! What makes the game and the Sackboys so popular? GameXtract explains.

They note that the game really isn't that original. The idea of creating and playing your own levels has always been there, it's just that LBP does it better than everyone else. Another example of polishing up technology is with the Wii. Motion control was around during the N64 and PS1 days, the Wii has just pushed it up a notch.

LBP also has oodles of innovation pouring out of it. As most of you know, you're able to create your own levels with almost no limitations, and then play them! The game allows you to launch yourself over fire, use your jaw as an elevator platform, and so much more!

The last and most important reason on why Sackboy is such a big hit is thanks to his wide audience. Sackboy has been able to do the one objective that no other AAA title this year has yet to achieve. This objective is being able to attract both hardcore and casual gamers alike. Hardcore gamers live in a difficult world these days. They live in a world where the Nintendo Wii is considered a next-gen console despite its graphics, and hardware. They live in a world where iPod games are pooping out faster than handheld consoles themselves. They live in a world where sales figures for these casual gaming products are constantly slapping them in the face. Casual gamers are on the rise, and any regular gamer will not like this change. I certainly don’t as this means AAA games like the Metal Gear Solid Series, and the Halo series will constantly have a harder time selling more copies. It’s a sad fact, and I think this calls for some sad music…back on topic. LittleBigPlanet despite its AAA quality has pulled all the right cards, and gathered not only hardcore gamers, but casual gamers alike. Sacboy has used the ideas of create, play, and share to expand across both categories of gamers. I can already see the bonding love. For once we can come together in perfect harmony.

I don't see what the fuss is, it just looks like a really good platformer. Does it do anything that no other game can't do?

This game is all about the custom experience, you aren't lumped with a pointless story or levels you don't like, any level you do not like you can change it, the levels on disc can all be changed. You can even make your own levels equiped with bosses, hell you can make your own game and package the levels off as such, you can become world reknowned through this game thanks to how you can make the game whatever you like. LittleBigPlanet is a platform game with dreams of being anything it wants to be, no game has ever dones this before and to top it off the game is cuter than an Animal Crossing/Pokemon hybrid, what more can you ask for.

Lots of games have map editors and allow you to share maps, None of them make people "World renowned".

Heck even halo lets you change the maps if you want, people do create very very creative and inovitive maps and levels on that, But it doesn't make them world renowned.

A map editor isn't quite the same as a game editor. Yes you can create maps, but unless you get into custom mods which generally require some programming the physics, weapons, and textures are always the same. Basically the game is always the same just the maps change.

LBP lets you create virtually everything. The only game I could think of that is comparable is RPG maker. Which was damn near impossible for the average person to get into. If LBP can give you the same level of customization as RPG Maker while making it more user friendly then it is no wonder it gets so much praise. But comparing it to a map editor is rather short sighted.

Yes make custom levels, play them and then share them with other people. That's basically the whole premise.

Every single thing in this game is customizable. Levels, Sackboy, etc. Everybody loves customization.

Its more to do with taste imo. While Im hoping this turns out to be the best exclusive the PS3 has gotten, since it lacks alot of them, I can't particular see myself getting all crazy about LBP. Yes it looks interesting, but its just not my cup of tea. And I can see myself after awhile getting bored with it.

But like kik said it has major potential which makes this title pretty big.
