Types of Gamers - What are they like and which one are you?

These days, everyone knows that there are a lot of different gamers out there. For example they may love playing by themselves, or go to such extremes they only play the one game series.

These days there are both good types and bad types of gamers, so which ones do you think will become top of the food chain or eliminated? What is the best type to be?
Ever since the dawn of gaming, gamers have tried to find their identities within video game community.

From noobs to elites, each of these gamertypes can be used to identify and distinguish the best from the rest.

Well, I'm more of a casual gamer. I don't get too serious with a game that I would spend almost 24/7 playing it. I like diversity, and I play what games I feel like playing at the time.

And yet, you've got a Metroid avartar.

EDIT: Hey wait a minute, if you don;t get serious with games, what are you doing an a forum?

Why should that have a bearing on anything?

"Elite"(and leet) has been thrown around so many times, it has lost all meaning to me. Real pro gamers don't call themselves elite.

    I suppose I'd be a 'core gamer'.
Bordering on 'heavy gamer' on some days. (but then again, I don't think 4 hours of game time is 'heavy').

I'm probably a core gamer, although possibly a fanboy, or maybe...

Screw it. Real gamers don't classify them self.

Finally, someone who understands Hardcore, it's not the games you play (kinda) it's your knowledge and time spent searching for knowledge.

Casuals can also be clasified as those who buy the games with lots of violence (mostly kids or teenagers who thinks it makes them cool), but thanks to the Wii these are now somewhere in between. Animal Crossing is hardcore, why? Because a casual gamer won't see anything in a game with such a stupid childish look, it's the hardcores who know that the series is a good and promising one who'll buy it.

I'm a heavy core gamer, I'm one of those 'Smart' fanboys, (and a smart person in general, I have a high school scholarship! And learned to read at 4 because my parents stopped reading me what the characters said in Banjo-Kazooie thus I taught myself.)

True gamers would be gaming rather than reading the article on types of gamers.

I don't care what type of gamer people are, as long as I don't have to hear stupid shit in my headphones about how everyone is shit and just overall childish behavior online.

Yeah, the chubby pre-teens of shooter games on the 360, playing something beyond their age. They annoy me more than anything. I mean, the last thing I need is listening to a kid brag about killing another kid in a game...and not shutting up about it.

I'm slipping more into the 'casual gamer' type, but as far as sequels go, I'd classify under 'hardcore.'

This site must hate Nintendo fans. I like to think of myself as the reasonable fanboy (I own a Master Sword) but they don't acknowledge Nintendo as having any. And where on earth is the retro gamer grouping.

I think I may be getting paranoid.

Somewhere between Casual, and Core. I have some knowledge of games and systems, and have played some games quite a lot. But some of my games (good and otherwise) just sit and gather dust. I just don't have the attention span (usually something new comes along, neh?)....

Probably closer to core (a lazy core gamer that is).....I've put a fair bit of money into it. My TV (HDTV) is mostly for gaming, I have a PS3 and 360 (and PSP, DS, and PS2), as well as a sound system....

When I sit to play a game, it is usually for at least a couple/few hours. Today, I've spent in excess of 7 and a half hours or so, playing Disgaea 3....

Im just a gamer period. Simple yet easily defined. If I see a game that looks interesting Whether its a casual, or hardcore game, I'll play it. And depending how it fairs like it. Thats it.

You're so bad for being such a rebel /obvious joke.

Nothing wrong with trying to categorize oneself. It is fun, in a way.

Don't care what anyone thinks, I do as I want, and I decided to say I'm somewhere between casual and core.

BTW: It is categorize, not category....I'm sure that is just a minor little typo on your part >_>

I'm on that fine line between Casual and Core. I got a fair amount of knowledge of systems, games, etc., and I play what I can, but I just don't have the time (or money) for everything. Part of me is suspecting I won't be able to get any consoles until the PS4s and XBox 720s roll around.

I'm not really a gamer, even though I'm a member on a gaming site. I do like to play video games from time to time, but I don't play them frequently nor do I talk about them very much. I'd say I'm a gaming noob to be honest. XD

I guess I would be a Casual Gamer. I have kind of stopped playing games. I only play certain games now, so I get bored and a little bit tired.

    Very interesting.

I forgot to say what I am! I would place myself as a mix of Core/Heavy gamer.
