Dear Natsume, How to Make Harvest Moon Great Again

SlapStic.com asked its readers last week to brainstorm ideas on how to make the Harvest Moon series great again, as a part of its ongoing "IP Revival Letters" project. Those readers had some simply fantastic ideas, and a letter has been written to Natsume containing them. This is that letter in its entirety.
One commenter named Joe had several greats ideas. He wished for much larger towns in the games and for the ability to buy extra land to add on to your farm. He also pointed out how great it would be to have the option to have a larger variety of animals. Joe suggested pigs and the ability to raise as many bees as you like. He also wanted to be able to own way more dogs/cats, and to have the option to sell them to other townspeople as pets. Now, I understand why you may be hesitant to add pigs to the game, as it's obvious that the only real way to make money off them would be to have them slaughtered, which is admittedly a tad violent for younger players. However, an easy way to solve this problem would be to have a trailer come on a certain day of the week, every week, on which you could load all the "edible" animals that you wanted to sell for their meat value (chickens included).
