Call of Duty Black Ops Voted ‘Best Game Ending’ Of All Time

As developers continue to push the boundaries of modern graphics to achieve hyper realism, there is an opportunity to return to a simpler time in gaming's past; the 2D era.
MyReviewPoint.com examines 3 ways how the Wii and Nintendo can revive the 2D gaming genre and use it as a strategy in today's gaming landscape.
If Nintendo continues to embrace developers that seek to develop titles presented in 2D and they dedicate internal resources towards new 2D signature franchise titles, the return to the Glory Years is imminent and only available on Wii.

I think that frankly any one of the consoles could revive 2D gaming very easily if they pushed for it more. But the truth of it is that we the gamer are the ones that have to really push for it if that's what we want. Money talks louder than anything. So buy the games you want to see succeed.
I believe their second point is valid as well. Sure, while MM9 may be going to every current gen console, there are many other Nintendo series that could follow suit and see a similar retro revival just because of the sheer quantity of old-school Nintendo series there are. Neither Microsoft nor Sony has this advantage since they were both established as competitors in the console industry after the 2D era, so it would be impossible for them to do a retro revival for one of their own series since, quite frankly, none of them existed back then. Of course, third party retro revivals are still possible on their platforms, but they would likely also come to the Wii, which would guarantee that the Wii would still have more retro revivals due to Nintendo's own support.
While there aren't that many ground-up 2D games on the Wii, many of them, such as Wario Land: Shake It!, receive more attention from the Nintendo fanbase than other 2D games for other platforms due to the fact that the core Wii audience and Nintendo fans typically have more interest in those types of games, whereas the average 360/PS3 fan would care much more about what the next big FPS game is.
Also, like it or not, the Wii has the best D-Pad of any current gen console period.
And where do you get this info about the D-Pad? Is that personal opinion or an actual technological fact? We all know the 360's D-Pad sucks. In fact they designed a new controller to be released in the UK to fix just that problem. But I have never seen an actual technological comparison of the Wii and PS3 D-Pads.
Frankly though the 360 has several retro games as well and overall they don't tend to be the best selling games in the XBLA. The same is true for the VC. It tends to be the newer games that get the most attention. As it generally is with gamers. Once we play something to completion we rarely tend to look back.
The point is that, sure, any console can help bring back 2D gaming, but the Wii seems to have the strongest chance of doing it and doing it well due to the three factors the author mentioned and supported in the article. There is just a larger audience for 2D games on the Wii.
My point is any one of these points could be applied to the other two consoles. They don't really point to the Wii being the best choice to revitalize the 2D genre. Just that with a little bit of a push from any one of the consoles we could see it come back to life very easily.
We'll just have to wait see if any of these predictions actually hold merit at the end of this console generation, though.
