When you think of LucasArts as a game developer and publisher, you immediately think of Star Wars, but believe it or not, what got the company on the map were games like Loom and Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe.

When LucasArts starting to make games for their famous Star Wars series, it started off to be very successful, with games likes X-Wing and TIE Fighter doing really well. After that, they never stopped and as a result, the games started getting worse. To this day, George and his team are still producing the games, the latest creation being The Force Unleashed, which hasn't been getting good reviews.

Why did LucasArts shy away from their other games that made the company known?

You guys remember LucasArts? Developer and publisher of some repute, considered something of a heavyweight back in the days before the landscape was ruled by the hulking behemoths of sequels and franchises? Maybe it was before your time. Maybe you know the name, but not the face; maybe you think LucasArts is the company that published all those Star Wars games.

That's a funny thing, actually. When LucasArts first got rolling, all the way back in 1984, it did so with games like Rescue on Fractalus, The Eidolon and Koronis Rift. It may seem surprising now, but it took a lot of years before it finally got around to plundering the Lucas vaults for material, and when it did, it wasn't Star Wars the company went with but Indiana Jones, cranking out a couple of licensed titles that despite the pedigree met with only tepid response. What really put the company on the map were adventures and epic battles of an entirely different kind.

    Because Star Wars makes money.

They won't if they are smart - Star Wars has a dedicated fanbase and is their cash cow - they need to keep milking that sucker for as long as possible.

That's like asking, "Will Square Enix ever let go of Final Fantasy?"

On another note, GG headlines are so misleading. They make the source articles sound so tame by comparison.

Loom, Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion and its sequel Day of the Tentacle, FULL THROTTLE, oh... LucasArts of the 90s, where art thou? (of course X-Wing and TIE FIGHTER remain classics)

Thats odd, cause from my knowledge the game is getting some positive reviews and very good scores. In fact I only seen 3 reviews taking shots at the game and now the game is on the top charts and already have sold over 1.5 Million dollars and looking to sell more.

Protip: Reviews are misleading, considering the fact its looking to sell millions of dollars and touted as one of the best Star Wars game in awhile.

While I disagree with the amount of sales a game makes contributes at all to how good it is (Iron Man sold well >_<) but I do agree that Force Unleashed has been getting some good reviews, not all are bad. Playing the game myself I can say that I agree more with the positive ones.

I actually just thrown that in to show its really popular in the UK atm. I wasn't trying to say that these sales prove how great of a game it is(though imo it is), just that its seems to be very popular and its getting some positive reviews from Pro and Users.
