The Sun has recently published an interesting article concerning a character from LittleBigPlanet, Sackboy.

It stated that Nintendo has Mario, Sega has Sonic... and Sony has Sackboy!

That's right, Sackboy is predicted to become the console mascot. Is he your choice?

Sackboy rocks. I dont care if I sound fanboyish or gay or whatever But he/she/it rocks. Full of charm, spunk and kink.

<3 Sackboy. So yeh, Sony should use it as their mascot.

With the serious amount of hype that this game is getting, I just hope that they can deliver. It doesn't have to fulfill EVERY promise that they've made, but it does have to fulfill a lot of em. Otherwise this game will probably crash. Hard.

That said, I can't wait until it's released, and Sackboy is the perfect mascot.

No one else who really could be Sony's mascot. Sure there are people like Snake and the guy from Resistance, though they aren't really as... "cartoonish" as other characters like Sonic and Mario. Not to mention Snake has been on Xbox, Gamecube, Gameboy Colour and more in the past.

So yeah, Sackboy should be Sony's mascot.

      You're forgetting Kratos...

Pah, Kratos. They have a Kratos sackboy. <:3

Kratos is . . . cartoonish? That's why he mentioned the others couldn't work out because they weren't cartoonish. So . . . Kratos wouldn't work.

Neither is Master Chief, though he clearly seems to be the 360's mascot.

And, to add to the Raziel, the PS3 shouldn't have a cartoonish mascot because it's so strongly "against" the 360, who's mascot is Master Chief.

So having a cartoonish mascot is a little odd, IMO. It's like they're putting Sackboy in an arena with Master Chief, with Sonic and Mario on the side lines up next to fight.

Master Chief could just rip Sackboy's head off and use his body as a condom to rape Sonic and Mario with.

I think he'd be an excellent mascot. First, he's age appropriate and cute. Second . . . The things this guy can do/create are limited only by one's imagination. So perhaps they could use that to say how powerful the PS3 is? Who knows. But the PS3 does need a good mascot.

Sony has stated that they wanted to avoid having a mascot, but if they were to choose one, it would have to be either Kratos or Sackboy. Snake couldnt really count because he started off on the MSX, not the playstation.

NO offense to LBP, but Kratos is Sony's mascot as far as im concerned. Its been with the PS system since last gen. Sackboy is just a new platform and hasn't established itself yet on the market where as god of war has. Its a no brainer.

That's a very good point, Final. Sackboy's too new to Sony to really be their "gaming mascot".

I might point out that Sonic wasn't Sega first mascot. Nor was he even around for their first console. The Sega Master System had a completely different mascot. How old a console is and how new a character is has nothing to do with mascot status. All that is required is how the company positions the character and how the audience recieves it. Hell Crash was an unofficial mascot and it wasn't even a character owned by Sony. It was just positioned that way by the gaming public.

He could become the mascot eventually though and since Sony has no definitive character to portray their console with, if LittleBigPlanet gains enough popularity who knows how far he can go.

On a side note, despite being a Nintendo fan I think Sonic is so much cooler than Mario.

i dont understand why everyone is trying to force certain characters (kratos and sackboy tbh) as sony's mascot. it happened naturally with sonic, mario, and to some extent master chief.

you can't just up and say HERES OUR MASCOT, the fans have to accept him as so on their own. thats just what i think. :\

Now that's very true. It feels a bit weird trying to pick out a mascot, when the mascots kinda just prove themselves through popularity and such

Imo, Kratos is Sony's mascot cause majority of the fans love Kratos equally and has established it self on the market with fantastic results and its only going to be better come God of War 3.

LBP or Sack boy is new hasn't shown that establishment and can't just be the mascot. Im just making a key point.

true, but mascots are generally cute and cuddly. sackboy does fit the bill perfectly. i could see him being a great mascot. hpwever, you can't just say HE'S OUR MASCOT and have people instantly accept it. look at how alex kidd failed as a mascot @_@ they need to just give sackboy some time

i like kratos, and he's definitely an iconic sony character, but he's just a bit 'much' for a mascot.

You're right, but then again I don't particular care about mascots for systems, but if I had to choose one, God of War Kratos would be mine. But Im glad sony doesn't have one, it means they can focus on many games that could be the flagship franchise for the system instead of relying on one sole game. Sega, Sonic. Nintendo, Mario. MS, almost Halo since its been one hell of a game for both Xbox 1 and 360. Sony, there's possible 4-5 titles which could carry as being an almost mascot of the game. But thats just my thoughts though.

Halo would make for an interesting mascot indeed, has the cool factor I'll give it that.

Are you *bleep*ing kidding me? The game is practically already 360s mascot.

No. Sackboy is the closest to thier mascot? Why argue? Sony doesnt need one.
    Blu-Ray can be thier mascot.

Bumping an article over a month old but ok. Sony doesnt need a mascot, but like many, I wish Sackboy would become Sony's. Sackboy represents creativity, excitement, diversity and charm. Its akin to the selling points of some consoles based upon marketing ploys and I seriously think Sackboy is one of the greatest characters of all time. I love him to bits

Sackboy might be creative, excitement diverse and charm, but clearly isn't selling well. So with that its definitely not going to be the mascot for the system with sales like that.

Since when is 800,000 units in 3 weeks bad for a new IP? Plus they are releasing a PS3 bundle in Europe on the 28th. Which will boost sales even more.

Isn't selling well? Oh, dear, how troubled you are, my friend.
