Stephen Totilo has decided to share his concerns with the gaming community concerning the announcement of the new hand held console by Nintendo, the DSi.

His worries lie in the loss of our beloved GBA games slot. The rumble packs available on both the normal and lite versions are now rendered useless. Guitar Hero for the DS is of no use as well, since it would slot into the GBA slot. This is said to be probably the only DS game to be affected and it's a major one too.

So how will Nintendo overcome this slight flaw in their overall great new design? The idea is being thrown around that they make GBA games download compatible for an SD card. This, sadly, still does not cater to all the games though.

Another huge problem in my eyes. I mean honestly, Nintendo, what the hell were you thinking?

The DSi isn't even that impressive or mindblowing.

I feel they should've added the interesting extras such as the music player and photos but they shouldn't have disposed of the GBA slot. It'll cause a bit of upset unless they do go with the downloading option or something similar.

Then again, any new kid coming into our world won't know any better and think it the best thing since sliced bread in a can.

The DS Lite will still continue to be sold as long as there still is demand.

Why don't people just hold onto their old consoles? A great piece of history sitting in your house AND you don't have this problem. People with the non-backward compatible PS3 are doing fine owning a PS2 aswell. It's not difficult!
I also read somewhere that exposing the DS to any sort of vibration is bad for the connectors inside, along with high heat temps, low cold temps, and otherwise abusing the machine. The DS shouldn't have any sort of rumbling features anyway :\

It's more of a tiny vibration than anything, it's fail compared to what the main consoles offer.

As for keeping your old Nintendo DS it's a fair point, I most likely will. Not everyone has a lot of money though so they may trade it in to get a discount, in which case they lost the GBA slot.

So wait, instead of keeping a DS thats actually working and in great shape, which looks to be better then the new one, people rather trade that one in for the DSi? That really makes no sense. Either way you're wasting money for a new DS that isn't that great.
