Do you remember playing Doom and laughing at all your friends who didn't have it? Or played a recent Star Fox game and wished they'd stuck to the high standards set by Star Fox 64? Have you been a devoted Metroid fan right from the start?

This article is all about games and their transformations over the years. It gives you the run down on each game and the big changes, along with bringing back a lot of fond memories.

Are there any other games you felt have really evolved over a long period of time? Was it for the better? Why wasn't Pokemon in that article!?

Starfox on the NES was a great technical achievement for the NES. Great game. Liked Starfox 64 more I think?

But.....No Zelda games? No Final Fantasy games? Both have come a LONG way graphically.

That is actually quite disappointing. Maybe it was just me but there was alot of PS1 games on that list. I always think classic is the SNES and before. Don't get me wrong the era of the PS1 and N64 had some sweet games that should qualify as classics, but I find it hard telling myself the original Smash Bros for example was that long ago.

StarFox was on the SNES. You'd be surprised how many people make that mistake.

I know that SNES was their first, though had thought that the N64 was for some time. I was making a more general statement at that point, I should have mention SEGA but since they are out of the console war I find them more debatable.

Speaking of Lylat Wars though, what a savage game. Might try Starwing on the VC at some point.

Actually, that was a typo on my part XD. I had it on my SNES, so I think I would know lol.

I believe every Star Fox game has brought something to the table, but my opinion is that Star Fox 64 (and to a lesser extent Star Fox Adventures) was where the series peaked before it took a steady decline from changes I wasn't fond of and whatnot.

As for this talk about classic, it also refers to if you still play them. For example, my friend and myself still play the original Doom on a regular basis.

Nice pun about Pokemon. Evolution and Pokemon in the same paragraph usually means a pun.

NO. NO. NO. WHERE IS LEGEND OF ZELDA? WHERE IS POKEMON? WHERE IS FINAL DESTINATION(Work with me here)!!!???

Despite the fact that pun was unintentional I'm going to say it was on purpose.

Pokemon has come a long way though.

The only series on that list that I buy the new games of is RE.

I don't like really like 3D Mario's (Super Mario World is the greatest Mario IMO) and I've never even tried a 3D Metroid.

Uh..not another of these lists....The game that is most evolved is Megaman. (30+ games)

Mega Man may have a lot of games but I hardly see it as something which has largely evolved over time.

"Have you been a devoted Metroid fan right from the start?"

until it went 3d. and somehow a sidescrolling adventure/platformer game became a generic/ugly FPS.

metroid is the absolute worst 'evolution' any nintendo franchise has seen.

Hell. No. Metroid prime 3 and Hunters were the best Metroid games I've ever played, but it's your opinion.

      I agree with this post.

Also I have to say some of the classics has evolved for the better where as the others has for the worse.

I'd hardly call the Prime trilogy generic compared to general FPSs and they're technically FPAs. Apart from that Metroid Prime was practically a 3D Super Metroid imo.
      Everyone to their own though.

And Smiffers you can hardly call MPH a Metroid game tbh.
