New Challenger: 3 Reasons Why Gaming Will Destroy Itself Part 1
9 hours 33 mins ago
SlapStic owner Ryan Rigney explains why neither of the upcoming AAA releases, Fable 2 and Fallout 3, are even the slightest bit appealing to him. Controversy is sure to be stirred up, as he even admits that he enjoyed Crackdown more than Grand Theft Auto IV.
It never fails: every time I get an open-world game, I follow the missions for a little bit, but then wind up ignoring the storyline and simply running around testing the limits of the world. When playing Grand Theft Auto, I tend to just see how high I can get the police radar and then survive as long as I can. That's fun for a few hours, but after I get done, I really feel no reason to return.. The same goes for Assassin's Creed. I made it to the very first town, and after doing a few assassinations, pickpocketing missions, and saving a few townspeople, I felt like I had done everything in the game. I still have fun running through the city from the guards, but they're so easy to avoid that there really isn't any real challenge.

Hundreds of people are even now still playing Oblivion. No lasting appeal indeed.
Without mods I became bored of Oblivion really quickly. Level scaling is the dumbest concept in the entire world of RPG game design.
Like the first KOTOR for instance, felt sort of lame to me, because it felt like you were only going from point A to point B to point C, without any true freedom in the game world.
In games like GTA 4 and Far Cry 2 (I'm pretty sure), I really appreciate being able to go about things my own way, and do things in whatever order I choose to do them.
(Answer) Because he's dead inside.
ZING! All in good fun!
Anyway I was just joking and don't really care that he's not into these games. Personally I don't care much about Fallout3. And I'm not trying to discourage anyone, these articles from slapstick are actually pretty entertaining.
Well everyone has their own taste and opinions, clearly we don't share any in this blog, but thats to be expected.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I would just hope that article submitters wouldn't get discouraged from posting in the future by constant negativity found on GG.
People need to stop complaining thinking the entire structure of the gamegrep community revolves around them. People enjoy what he has to say. Ive grown on them. Let him be. If you dont like it, piss off. Too many a time people want THEIR opinions merited on these responses. Give him credit for communicating openly, his views.
I really hope this does not put people off submitting user articles within the Gamegrep community.
I've already touched upon my personal thoughts here and thats that.
Also since you didn't clarify who you're speaking to I took it as anyone in general mentioning anything regarding his article, which I did ask him a question of it. As for me I do need to justify myself cause i felt as I stated, whether or not you quoted me directly, that you was referring to me. Could you maybe quote who you're talking to next time, so people don't take it the wrong way.
Not once in my entire post did I blatently tell anyone to discontinue posting. I did not "tell" anyone to stop posting. I merely suggested that people should refrain from flatout negative connotations towards the man. People have a right to post. Im hardly going to be that ignorant and tell people otherwise am I. Prehaps it will be beneficial for you to take a look at the previous articles this man has submitted, and see the comments there. And when I said "I do not care", im referring to you. Ive worked with *bleep* kids in the past. You take the cake sunshine.
Cannot help myself here. Is there an award for stupidity?? You'd clearly win it. The word "People" was used within my post three times. Now the average, or even slightly simplistic person may have understood and acknowledged that I was referring to the general consensus of the Gamegrep community. I should have guessed that someone as blissfully unaware as you would come along and ask just a unnessesary question.
Im not going to quote everyone so clearly the inclusion of some of my chosen grammar would bear some indication to the fact that I was talking to the general gamegrep article surfer.
One day, you'll come right Final Blade. You will begin to interpret stuff properly, and provide thought-provoking conversation to those with a minds depth surpassing that of a spoon. Until then, god help us all...
