An interesting read on the impact of In-Game advertising which is really starting to kick in now. Especially with the US Presidential Elections appearing in some games already . . which change in-game dynamically according to the advertisers contract.

What impact will it have on games . . ?, will it help drop prices at the counter . . ? All good questions. The article has a poll to voice your opinions on as well, so it's well worth the look, go check it out.

When I first moved to Australia fifteen years ago and adopted Rugby League as my spectator sport to substitute for Ice Hockey, I was horrified at how the jerseys players wore were patched over with advertisements that didn’t even match the team colours. It looked tacky and unprofessional.

Beer ads, airline ads, whatever ads, they were (and are) a mess to look at and often distract from team jersey design. I know this also occurs with Soccer/Football in Europe, but was it a good decision to allow sponsorship deals that ruin your jersey? The more sponsors your team attracts, the more mess they make of your jersey.

Before console video gaming was such an online affair, the games were stuck on cartridge or disc and no ongoing updates could be made. Any in-game advertising was either a funny send-up, or of other games by the same publisher (EA usually).

Funny how the person that submitted this article has the same name as the source website.
By the way, the source shows a blank page on that site.

I would just like to point out that webmasters signing up for GameGrep is one of the fundamental principles of it's existence.

If you will note the Webmaster Tools - we do have measures in place to specifically cater to webmasters and site owners.

And frankly, without them - we wouldn't have many articles to contribute now will we?

Thanks mate . .it seems news and related articles must materalize out of thing air for them to be legitimate or "okay" for some gamers.

Without websites, you have no news or articles or reviews.

Without webmaster and those who run the sites, who btw - spend untold hours working tirelessly, without any pay in order to get news and item sout to you the reader.

The odd thing is, I don't see any readers scouring the various websites out there in order to FIND news, but spend heaps of time looking at portals to read the news, which by definition, are simply a "portal" for news outlets to gather their news in one place.

If you check our site, you'll find there's 14 members on the team, ranging in age from 15 to 55 (me)male and female. Mums and dads and school/uni students, employed, unemployed.

That we are an "official Friends Of Xbox" (FOX) site and one of only 6 Official Xbox Community Network (XCN) sites in Australia. . . . We interview ppl like CLiff Bleszinski, Clint Hocking (FC2 Creative Director etc) for YOU the reader . .

So how else would you suggest we get the news out to YOU . . . telepathy perhaps . . . hmmmm - nope, that won't work either. Guys, either wake up and realise this is how news gets out, or - start scouting out the news and submitting it yourself . . now. there's a thought. (sarc).

So thanks Deathsythe for pointing out the obvious - which obviously isn't as obvious to those who are observing GameGrep . . hmmm . .

Why is everyone at Xbox0Z360 for submitting his own content? It takes a lot of work to produce a site like so, and his stories and content deserve to be here for us to read. Arrogant pricks.
