While Windows 7 is being regarded as the next promising version of Windows over Vista, issues still remain.

Compatibility issues are not supposed to exist when upgrading from Vista to 7, but with the majority of businesses and medical practices still using XP it does not look like Windows 7 is going to be much of a help.

Microsoft claims that won't happen with Windows 7 -- as long as users are working with applications that are Vista-compatible. "All of the devices and all of the compatibility work that has gone on in the past two years of Windows Vista will pay off in the work that we've done with Windows 7," said Sinofsky.

The problem is that few enterprises have upgraded systems to Vista. According to one recent survey in the United Kingdom, only 4% of businesses in that country have switched to Vista. Anecdotal evidence suggests that the business uptake rate for Vista in the United States isn't much higher. IT managers for the state of Maine recently confirmed that the state will bypass Vista and await the rollout of Windows 7.

Yeah, maybe it was wishful thinking for 7 to not suck like Vista....hopefully this isn't the future of Microsoft (sucky Vista-like OS')..otherwise it's ReactOS/XP/Ubuntu/X for me.

The screenshots are awesome but depressing..it's looking more Mac-like by the day..

Excuse me? Windows is practically acknowledging that Apple is superior, and is trying to transform into it. It's not looking more Mac-like, it's becoming more Mac-like.

Don't people ever tire about bitching about Vista over like two things?

Anyway, I thought this would have been sort of obvious. They wouldn't have just randomly changed all the compatibility of Vista just to change it back to XP later. This simply was inevitable.

Any hope for Windows 7 is now lost. Vista's kernel was terribly bloated, though the effects of such a bloated system are more noticeable on lower end machines.

Doom sayer /kidding. Firstly, if your running something like Vista, you should be expected to have at least a half decent computer if you want everything running at once. Secondly, just because it's built on the same kernel doesn't mean that they haven't changed it a bit.

Meh, Backup and reinstall 7 from fresh. In the end its the only sensible way to do it.

I just want them to start the kernel from scratch ya know? Isn't there some new secret kernel that they are building based on a different optimum technology?
