The presidential candidates & video game ratings

bobbonew | November 03, 2008 | Blog | PC Playstation 2
Video game ratings are regulated in the United States by the federal government. With the presidential elections in the US coming tomorrow, you could be seeing some changes in how the ratings system on video games is done. With Obama last playing Pong, and McCain never playing a game (nor can he even check his e-mail, check article for video), almost anything can happen.
While McCain has spoken out against harmful media as a whole, Obama has gone as far as to say that the ESRB’s rating system needs improvement, but did not offer details as to how. In a response to the question of keeping media companies from marketing and pushing inappropriate content to children (posed by Kotaku in the heat of the primaries) Obama stated, “I would call upon the video game industry to give parents better information about programs and video games by improving the voluntary rating system we currently have. Broadcasters and video game producers should take it upon themselves to improve this system to include easier to find and easier to understand descriptions of exactly what kind of content is included.”

They're both idiots when it comes to this. I don't think that could be any more obvious.

Completely agree dude. Its funny how their opinions and their administration is going to be dictating things to us that they possibly couldn't understand.

I want to reply with a witty insult to the stupidity of that attack on a character as 'sacred' in the shrines of gaming as Mario but I don't you will recognize anything other than some this blatant. Simply put I disapprove of the attack on a classic character, things from the Pacman era to at the latest the first age of Zelda and Final Fantasy should be respected, even if, as is the case with Sonic, people start to see a slip, which frankly given Super Mario Galaxy's ratings is not the case with him.

Bigger problem, he is Italian. Sorry Big A2, even if he never went to to Mushroom Kingdom and still lived on Earth he wouldn't be able to run for your president. He can't be your president. Although if he were in power in Italy he may become a dictator to win Peach back.

I don't see what him being Italian has to do with anything.

Not to mention the fact he knows very little of America, thats why I rather pick BA as my president.
