The article expands on some of the potential ramifications if Epic Game's Mike Capps comments on how to combat used game sales (by making people pay for the ending or final boss unless they bought the retail version) came to fruition.

The idea would be a catastrophically bad decision for publishers to make, and not just because of the swift and vicious blowback they’d receive from fans forced to pay additional costs because they went through a used game network.

I don't understand how they can do it in the first place. Like with each new disc comes a redeem code that can only be used once or what?

The article was cut short and ends midsentence. I'm pretty sure that this won't be feasible and if they attempt to do that will lose a huge portion of fans as well as force more piracy issues.

This guy doesn't really make any point at all beyond about those who don't have access to the internet. Rather empty and (as kik36 said) cut short article.

Sorry my editor posted the article before it was done (nice editing job...) I fixed it up, and I promise points were attempted to be made.

Has anyone ever considered that maybe the ending will be stored on the disk but you enter the code to unlock the data from the disk?

It has been done before in some games.

I kinda would understand if it was like 3-5 bucks. But anything beyond that is just really stupid.

And I have to say for the people who don't have iternet, well WTF? its the 21st damn century and if you can afford a PS3/360 and a tv to play it on you must have some sort of way to get internet access.

You'd think so. Sadly, countries like New Zealand have pretty shitty internet. And older houses and weak connections are common. We dont get quality internet at all. Luckily our recently elected new government is gonna catch us up to the rest of the world; finally. You would be surprised at the amount of people here, especially in rural areas, who have no internet at all.

Makes sence. But in the end I think this is a stupid idea. Lets say you barrow a game from a friend, well then that means you can't see the ending. And that is the whole point of barrowing games, so you don't spend money.

Thats exactly why they hate it. If you borrow from a friend your essentially stealing from the developers, because you're playing their game without paying them for it.

One has to wonder how much substance is included in this "ending" that we would need to obtain. Because I can see myself going to Youtube and watching it online to save myself some money.
