Gamepro has done an article on how to tell if you're a "fanboy" no mention of the opposite gender was mentioned so I figured I'd be politically correct with my title ;)

Gamepro boils it down to six points.

  • You become upset when something you like is questioned.
  • You are intellectually dishonest
  • You resort to personal attacks during debate
  • The defeat of your enemy is more rewarding than your victory
  • You bring nothing new to a conversation
  • You are anti-fanboy

Which, if you read the descriptions they're pretty much on the ball with things.

There are two types of fanboys in the world: those who passionately support a team, product, company or organization in a balanced way, and those who passionately support something to the point of becoming an irrational, spitting tornado of anger.

Guess I'm no fanboy either. I've never did any personal attacks on people because of their opinions about systems....not yet at least.

Bah, I would have considered myself a non-fanboy...but I am anti-fanboy, the last point on the list, so...meh.

Yeah, I don't like fanboys who think of their game to be the best ever made, especially since that is an opinion. I am a bit of a FF fanboy, but I don't say that they are the best games ever made.

I've seen my fair share of fanboys and most of these points are spot on. I think everyone can be a bit fanboyish towards things but some people take it way too far.
