My Greatest Failing as a Gamer

RKRigney | November 19, 2008 | Blog | Nintendo 64 Misc
SlapStic.com owner Ryan Rigney recounts a humorous tale of failure and disappointment from his youth. What game could possibly cause such damage to a growing lad's ego? Read on to find out.
So I blazed my way through the game, dying countless times like the big idiot that I was. But I DID make it through, eventually making it all the way to the final battle with Gruntilda. And I fought her, and I lost. "No big deal," I thought to myself. "I'll just try again."

So I did try again. And again. And again. And again. AND AGAIN. AND AGAIN. AND AGAAAAAIN.

I couldn't do it.

That aint right man, this is when he was a kid, and I can relate because I got this game when I was fairly young, got to the very end and nevert beat Gruntilda. Granted I can most likely kick her ass now if I had the game, but as a kid we aren't as good at certain games as we are when we're older.

That is a pretty poor comment of you, being all up yourself. Just because you can do it (and we're assuming, you could lie) doesn't mean other people can do it as easily as you suggest. Everyone is different.

I understand, Banjo Kazooie and Tooie both had extremely hard bosses, at least for games intended for kids.

Site owners talking in third person was funny back Seanbaby did it, now it's just stupid.

I didn't read the source. Let me guess what game it is . . . Banjoe-Kazooie for the N64?

Looking at the comments, I can tell I was right!! Wow, am I good or what!

Anyway, Ryan, I know you post articles and you put the story in third person for the sake of people who don't know you. However, it is perfectly fine, and even BETTER if you speak in the FIRST person. People will like you and your website better!

Jesus, alright! Didn't think it would really matter. If it really does then I'll start doing it.

Yes, it actually does bug a lot of people. If you start doingin first person thuogh, trust me, people will really see you differently.

Besides, it keeps you from alienating yourself from everyone here

I think both are acceptable, though I understand why people would be disgruntled at using the third person.
