With news that the New XBOX Experiance (NXE) is causing grief to hundreds of gamers around the world in the form of the re-emergence of the Red Ring of Death.

What makes it worse is the timing. With the console having been released three years ago, the extended warranty for many gamers runs out - that's right a couple days ago. With their console RRoD'ing this is incredibly bad timing.

"I hate what the company did this year," says the rep. "They released the New Xbox Experience a few days after the extended warranty period ended for most users and it's tough to explain that to raging callers. How do you say that MS just screwed them all?"

I still don't get how the NXE, a software update causes the RROD, a HARDWARE failure signal?

But I guess that's what's happening to some individuals.

    No hiccups on mine, thankfully.

Lol at the source, someone called up MS and complained the update made his power go out, you should add that in, its funny.

Oh it's definitely possible. I work as a field rep for an avionics manufacturing company, and most of our radios are software based.....sometimes when the engineers perform a new software change it has problems communicating with the firmware and can cause some pretty weird hardware failures.

I would imagine that a huge portion of the XBOX hardware is digitally controlled through software.

Oh, well thanks for clearing that up for me.

Well it does seem to use more system resources than the old dashboard which causes the console to run a bit hotter.

Wow talk about bad timing, when exactly did the 360 come out? Sometime in November?

My time will come as well by this time next year, no more warranty. No worries, I've yet to get the RRoD anyways, and it's failure rate, despite this spike, has been low.

Well, compared to the other two competitors, its failure rate is still relatively high.

    A re-emergance??

Crap its 3 years old. If it where to I so would've done a 28 days later joke. =/

So this, what, increases the chances of the RROD again??

What about the newer 1's with the falcon chip??

Wow Microsoft, yet another fiasco on your hands. (at least to me)

No, It doesn't increase the chance of RROD, IT just that some people have had bricked xbox's. Just like with any OS update, there will be some failure's. At least its not as bad as the PSP.

PSP's get bricked because people try to run homebrew on them.

A few weeks ago I read on Team Xbox that this was expected, a customer service rep for Microsoft said that there has always been an influx of calls from owners of bricked Xbox 360s after every major Xbox 360 software update. Most of the complaints come from owners of launch consoles.

And didn't the PS3 recently have a firmware update that bricked some consoles?

We will just have to wait and see if this turns out to be that big of a deal or not.

Yes, but you only hear of, say, four people whose PS3s bricked. This seems a lot more...prevalent.

BS four people, This problem is probably low as well, but you only hear complaints, never praise.

1 complainer has the voice of a hundred happy customers.

Regardless, that PS3 issue pales in comparison to this current problem. It seems its alot of the launch systems that's getting the bricked, while the PS3 isn't on the same scale as this.

With that said, you really have to question, like the others in the past, how legitimate the issues are especially when people make up random things like the houses power shutting off.

I know Kiki elaborated on how this could cause hardware failures, but I'm still I bit skeptical. I think people might just be using this as an excuse. I'm not a techno-whiz though, so I'm not sure.

I'm sure not every person in the world brought their Xbox 360 3 years ago, This article makes it seem like Microsoft has scammed all their owners out of repairing their bricked xbox by releasing NXE out of the repair date
