Given the fact that the PS3 only outsells the 360 by 3-1 in Japan, (compared to America, where the PS3 has been outsold 2-1 by the 360) it's become ridiculous that the media and many gamers are so convinced that the 360 is a failure in Japan. SlapStic.com brings the facts to the table here.

Here are the facts, for the kids keeping score at home: The PS3 only has a 3-1 lead on the 360 in Japan. Compared to the OVER 2-1 lead that the 360 has on the PS3 in the US (where WAY more consoles are sold), that's barely anything, especially coming from a Japanese company that's going up against an American company in Japan.

Meh, whatever. I don't really care. It doesn't matter who does better and where because it doesn't hurt my gaming.

That's actually a pretty good attitude to have. It's rare. Thumbs up for you, Darknet.

You kinda summed up on feeling on this stuff with one swift sentence, hehe.
      But it could, potentially..!

Indeed. If anything, this only opts the competitive companies to make their next console that much better, meaning that in the end, we win.

It's silly to compare the two though isn't it? I mean from what I've heard the 360 is doing a lot worse in Japan than the PS3 in the US, though to be fair the US is a bigger market.

What is the point of this article? Bashing consoles is just... pathetic. Really, really pathetic.

Last time I checked the PS3 numbers in U.S isn't that bad. At least compared to 360 numbers in Japan. Now I think its far to early to say PS3 is a failure in N.A, despite it being a bigger market. Then again its obvious the home crowd/team will have the advantage over the visiting.

Difference being that the U.S. doesn't hate Japanese technology. I'm afraid I can't say the same about Japan...

I love my 360. Im glad that I have good gaming . If it were the same on the ps3, I would have one. But for my style of gaming it boils down to the 360. If that changes I will change consoles. FanBoyism doesn't effect me. My loyalty lies with whoever appeals to me .Period

If the PS3 is a failure in the US, The XBOX360 is a failure in the EU...

...PS3 outsells it almost every week wouldn't you know it...

Point being... it doesn't matter, the consoles are always going to do better in a territory to make up for any loss in anohter territory.

According to Vgchartz, the hardware sales for 29th Nov 2008 say otherwise.

360 is outselling the PS3 in both America and in the EU at a 2:1 ratio.

Except VGCharts, last I heard, tends to not always be right.

Either way, in comparison between the two, the 360 is doing a lot worse in Japan than the PS3 is doing in the US. The 360 sells maybe 1500 per week in Japan, whereas I'm sure the PS3 sells much more per week in the US.

Meh. My PS3's treating me just fine, and besides, it lets me play my PS2 games online, so why would I care which does better?

Both systems are great IMHO. The way things are going 360 seems to be doing better.

    3 to 1 is a higher ratio than 2 to 1

I don't care what the Japanese think, neither console is a failure, they both have their flippin' pros and cons.
