The Wii may be the sales king in the home console market, but is its sales necessarily a bad thing for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3? The Wii's focus on casual games is turning non-gamers into gamers, which could be a good thing for other consoles.

Well it ceratin shows off how high the production values are on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 games are, the high end consoles are like Hollywood in comparison to the low budget tales on the Wii. I personally think the Wii will be good for the other consoles, as humans strived for the greater high we always want something better when we get bored and the Ps3 and 360 are that.

Question (not taking the mick out of anyone, just wondering): Is there a specific reason for the sudden increase of fanboy-aimed articles? Or has it always been this bad?

Out of curiosity, which fanboys do you think this article is aimed at?

I did myself a favor and didn't read the actual article, so I can't properly say. I just saw Wii, 360 and PS3 in the title along with the words sales king in the GG article, so I thought it best not to waste my time.

It's actually not as 'fanboy-ish' as you would assume. From an initial read (not the article, just the description and such), it's questioning if the success of one console helps the others.

So what if Wii's menioned as a sales king...herdon adds in "may be" to that line for a reason, and given the fact that Wii's are constantly flying off shelves, it's hard to argue with that.

Now from reading the article, I can see if someone judges towards the Nintendo fanboys, but it's deeper than that. The article compares the three major consoles in a good way, a way in which they can 'work together' in the gaming industry. It also uses a good example with Everquest to WoW, showing a hardcore-casual gamer trend and difference.

But meh, why should I sum it up? Read it with a clear mind and get a better opinion.

Shut up Slumpy. I do so read articles, The only time I don't read articles if it's blatant fanboyism like the LittleBigProblem article about the sales of LBP being bad, even though it's heavily based on 4 days worth so yea not worth reading. Do your self a favor and stop assuming shit.

Four days worth of sales, the article was based on? This, I was unaware of.

He means the LittleBigPlanet article he was talking about, most sites are jumping on it and calling its poor sales a sign of its failure when almost all statistics used are only for October, when the game was only out for the last 4 days of that month.

Question: Is there a specific reason for the sudden increase of comments being posted in articles that the poster has not read?

Tiger of Wu Dec 4, 08
Yes, it's due to the increase of fanboy articles not worth actually reading.

I think everyone owes Tiger of Wu an apology for not submitting enough Nintendo friendly articles.

FYI, I haven't owned a Nintendo product since my N64 and don't plan on doing so, so either you have me mistaken for someone else or just don't understand that there are in fact people who can dislike fanboy shit without themselves being fanboys. Of course, recognising that would probably take away the pleasure you get out of being a smart-arse. Either way, I give up, since you evidently hold more onto the deluded fantasies you create for purposes of wanting to be funny then actual truth, so whatever.

Who is the one thinking he knows everything about the article without reading it? Not very good at the blame game are you?

Stop replying altogether at such articles then, really not that difficult.

Question: Is there a specific reason for the sudden increase of people getting offended because an article says something bad about their beloved console? Or have people always been this stupid?
    • 1
Tiger of Wu Dec 3, 08
I assume it's the article increase, although if that was aimed at me I feel obliged to say I'm not offended, otherwise I wouldn't have asked the question, I'd have made a ret4rded, wannabe funny, sarcastic comment.

Nope, people have always been this stupid. Right back to the SNES and Mega Drive days.

Well there are things you have to consider: Wii has more family games than any of the other next gen consoles, while XBox 360 has some, Wii has exclusive ones like Animal Crossing. PS3 tends to focus on a maturer audience.

well if your talking about how all these legions of kids will grow out of wii cooking or wii tennis one day and will look into buying a ps3 or 360, then yes your correct.

    what im an 'anti-wii fanboy'?

Well there has to be a system for every group. I understand where these companies pick there games and choose their audiences, but it should be more diverse on the PS3.

    Seeker X Dec 4, 08
This is one hell of an assumption really. In fact, how many published posts/cases are out there that can prove this?
    • 1
      Storm Dec 4, 08
Well yeah, the 'theory' is quite out there, but would you rather get analysts stating the painfully obvious claims, or people thinking outside the box?
      • 3
        Seeker X Dec 4, 08
Quite honestly, there's no point for an article like this to even be out. It tries to come off as some sort of pseudo-analysis that has no basis whatsoever. For example...at the very beginning he shrugs off the Wii's price as a factor and compares it to the Blu ray sales...apples and oranges.

So between "future readers" (analysts) and this kind of thing...I'll have neither.

          Storm Dec 4, 08
Well he does mention the downsides of the Wii, such as it not being a 'powerhouse' console, but yeah I see your point. If I could have it my way, I wouldn't want to see either kind of article myself.

Saints Row 2 I heard was good. I might rent it for 360 to see what it is like.
