Daniel Nations of examiner.com has blogged about recent comments by one man named Randy Stude. The response is to do with Randy's "PC's conquer all else" attitude, relating it to the current consoles war which is plaguing all the blogs and news sites.

Read on to learn his opinion on this new war.

Of course, it is no great surprise that the President of the PC Gaming Alliance would make bold claims about the innovations found in the PC gaming world while downplaying the role of piracy. And we certainly don't expect him to give a long speech about how the rise of the Internet allowed PC game developers to release unfinished games knowing that it is easy to patch them after release.

Consoles are going to vanish back into the PC? Manufacturers are going to offer a console video game option? Are they going to have parallel hardware inside of the PC, Randy, or is Sony going to stop selling the PlayStation 3 in favor of having emulator available to run on people's laptops?

I agree with a few things. First . . . the console war is indeed a plague as is fanboyism the bane of humanity.

Second . . . if someone want to leave one of the consoles for another just as he said about the PC "Fine, go for it, don't let the door hit you on the way out" is definitely a fine retort and not left for the school cafeteria at all. I own all the consoles. Each have pros and cons. I will not argue or fight to have one person stay with one console. If someone doesn't like a console, then why should they buy it? If you don't like a console, then why should someone else who DOES like it, NOT buy it?

I hate the console war and the types of people it produces: fanboys (or I should say I hate the way fanboys post or act. I don't hate them personally . . . just what they do.)

There are PC fanboys too you know.

Personally, I don't care if PC is better or whatever console is better than this console, so on, so forth. I made a decision to purchase my 360 over two years ago, and I don't regret it. It's personal choice, in the end, so why do people insist on continuing writing these articles? Whether they're comparing PC-to-console or console-to-console, in the end, it's just a bunch of guys trying to have a cock fight.

Yeah unfortunately there are PC fanboys too, like you said

And I agree with all you said!

To be quite honest, for me, this is a "no shit sherlock" moment. I own a PS3, but shooting games are so much more fluid on the PC. I believe that the only games that do suffer are driving games, but even then PCs can be equipped with steering wheels.

I honestly find shooting games to be more fluid on consoles... The whole "WASD" setup is very annoying in my opinion. It's easier to just push the joystick in the direction you want to go. I do admit that using the mouse to aim is probably easier though, especially if you aren't used to a controller. I would still be better with the controller, just because I'm more used to it.

I guess you could always connect a 360 controller to the PC though, but then you're practically back to the starting place of why so many people buy consoles... They're cheaper and less complicated. Consoles are evolving, but they're still centered around a single purpose, and that's to play video games. I think that's the basic reason why so many people prefer them over PCs.

If two FPS gamers of the same skill level played each other, one with a keyboard/mouse and other with a console controller, the keyboard/mouse player would simply dominate. You just aren't used to the keyboard/mouse but they allow for much faster and precise movements.

Plugging a 360 controller to your PC in order to play an FPS is like choosing to handicap yourself.

FPS games aren't unplayable on the console, but they are superior on the PC, that's just fact.

I don't know about that... I honestly don't feel like the controller limits my skills in any way. The mouse is the only thing I think might be even, or possible better, compared to a controller. I still say that the movement joystick and all the other buttons are more fluid on a controller, though. Especially since games are starting to get more complicated. I can easily see why you might think a game like CSS would be easier on a PC, but newer games like CoD4/5 and Halo 2/3 have a lot more buttons than that.

I haven't had very much experience playing FPS games on PC, though. So I will admit that my opinion is somewhat biased. I've only played older FPS games (like Starsiege, Tribes, etc), and some other games that are free.

Besides, I think if the PC gamers really had more skill due to their setup, they'd at least have some popular pro leagues and stuff, you know? The MLG players that play games like Halo don't seem to have any trouble at all with using controllers.

CoD4 runs perfectly fine on PC. The keyboard has WASD, Shift, CTRL, Spacebar QER, ZCV that can easily be pressed. The keyboard will never be limited by buttons.

Exactly, you don't have the experience in both to make an informed decision. I was a console gamer for many years and still play Halo 3 on my roommate's 360 every now and then.

Are you kidding me? You obviously have no idea how big the PC eSports scene is.

WCG: their main attractions are PC games
GGL: supports COD for both PC and 360, but PC is by far more popular
ESWC: their main game has been Counter-Strike 1.6 for years
CEVO-Pro and CAL-Invite are popular ladders for high-tier players, CS and CoD4 on PC are big on their list.

And I'm not even talking about the monstrous Starcraft(RTS) and Sudden Attack(FPS) leagues in Korea that are viewed by millions regularly.

          MLG is nothing.

I think, as far as capabilities go, the PC is definitly the winner. It has already outlasted consoles, and will continue to reign supreme on hardware and improvements as time goes by. As for genres, I think FPS games work very well on consoles, however certain games (Especially Half Life 2) were made to work best on PC.

I agree that most FPS games work better on a PC as opposed to a game console. I love Counter Strike: Source, but it just wouldn't work on a console. Star Wars: Battlefront II, however, works very nicely on a PS2.

This is an age-old argument, but ultimately a simple one.

PCs have POTENTIAL power - if you have a fully-maxed out PC, you will be able to play games smoother and with better graphics than their console counterparts. HOWEVER, the flipside of this is that when your PC isn't maxed out, then the gaming standard will often suffer as a result - my friend can play Stranglehold on his PC and have it look better than it does on my PS3, but can he say the same thing about GTAIV? No; because his PC is already out-of-date.

The beauty of consoles is that a single piece of hardware can span a generation, whilst PCs need to constantly update. If your PC could run GTAIII, did that mean it could run Resident Evil IV? Almost certainly not. Yet the PS2 was capable of running both games, as well as even more taxing ones such as God Of War II, with complete ease and no need to upgrade.

So basically put, PCs always have the potential to be more powerful than consoles; but that potential power needs to be unlocked by the user, and is a costly and ultimately time-consuming experience.

A new gaming PC is easily better than consoles. The hardware available is always superior and you can do way more with a PC than a console.

Downsides to the PC: to maintain that edge you have to regularly update your components. I don't believe this is as bad as some people make it out to be, but it is a reality.

But just as I think the PC is 'better' than a console, for someone who is only interested in games, a console is probably your better bet. A console is straight-forward, and the contemporary library of available games is more impressive.

Then again, if you are going to need a computer anyways, you might as well spend the extra $200 or $300 to make it a gaming PC (which can be accomplished pretty much by just buying a good video card.)

I think taker4ever had it right in the last line above.

The PC's flaw is that unlike with a console the games for a computer often require the most recent technology to play, and future technology to play well (exaggerated) although there have been a few games with frame-rate trouble.

Case in point: The Sims 2, expensive brand new computer, couldn't even get a whole number as the frames per second...

Of course consoles have their generations but 6 years for a hardware upgrade is much more acceptable than 6 months.

But if your computer can run the game then it often is alot better.

Taker and RCG made the best points on this article. I'm tired of hearing the constant stuff of "PC games are superior than console games....blah blah" yet I'm curious what propels people to say this? Is it the fear that maybe console gaming has become such a level where console doesn't need to be upgraded to play a great game, and that those games haven't shown what the console can do out of the gate? Or is it just a defense remark cause you know deep down Console games are quite awesome and closing many gaps between them? I think it's a combo of both. But I'm also sick and tired of hearing BS like this. Yes PC have Potential power as Taker said, but why even state it? It does nothing but start arguments and make you look like a fanboy.

I personally feel it should be left out entirely. I've seen worse fanboys that idolize the PC then consoles, but either way both are bad.
Anyway I was tempted not to read this article just because I knew it would be a fanboyish comment, which I read it and it was. So I'll ask this, Randy Stude are you an idiot, or did you just smoke too much weed or was drunk when you stated this?

I don't really mind PC gamers. I just hate it when they brag about their PC's and talk about how everyone who is a console gamer sucks cock.

But I lol at them now. From what I've read, the PC version of GTA was badly optimized for PC's (you need a better PC to run it on minimum than Crysis. Talk about bad optimization), the shades look worse than on consoles even on max shader effects and so on.

There are a few good PC games, I will admit, but I have to say that the PS3 is a much better gaming system (heck, can the PC really even be counted as a gaming system?) - the quality of games and the sheer opportunities you get for games with the PS3 (SIXAXIS, anyone?) is far better.

Yes the PC can easily be classified as a gaming system, though it is a definite no for a Mac... those things... to put it politely, insult to gamers.

A few good pc games? ...lol. I know this is only your opinion, but a couple of words: Fallout, Baldur's gate, Planescape Torment, Halo1(yes, reviews from gamers say it is better on the PC, then on the Xbox), Unreal Tournament on the PC, Counter Strike, World of Warcraft, and many many others mmos. There are much much more. The PC is adaptable, the console is not. And i don't even like GTA4, GTA: Vice City is greater. I love the consoles and the PC, bashing one of them is what pisses me off. There both great, in there own way. I play UT3 on the ps3 and tons of games on the ps2(my favorite). But i also play on the PC as well. The consoles are true gaming systems, but the PC is adaptable. The PC is not better then the consoles, and neither are the consoles better then the PC.

It is not better than consoles to be honest. It is easier to get on line on the PC but it doesn't seem as fun. I prefer consoles.

    Wat.

I don't think it's better than the consoles, you don't have to Install games and waste time, and I find console games better.

    Just my personal opinion.

Mod community = longer longevity. If I can always get specific titles depending on platform:

E.g. Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 = excel on PC format and will have a greater lifespan: fallout3nexus.com

Most multiplayer heavy games, I lean towards the 360 because there are more friends with it.

Fighters, unique games, IMPORTS (bluray and games), Metal Gear and other franchises with roots w/Sony I lean there. Also a lot of retro games I go for on the PS3 (Bionic Commando Rearmed) because of the Dpad. Just feels better playing these games IMHO on that platform.

And then there is the wii, which unfortunately is only used for NES and SNES classics, and unique games to the console, like No More Heroes and the upcoming Mad World and Deadly Creatures.

    To each his own.
