2odl2play member Tammy aka "twistedcaboose" writes about her life as a gamer and a mother and the impact it has within her life. The article gives a good insight on the relationship and bonding that video games present between a parent and a child.
The article details a moment where Tammy, her son and his friends are playing Halo on XBOX LIVE. Another opponent is talking trash and says my dad could beat you. To this Tammy's son replies Dude my mom can beat your dad. a few minutes later the boys father is on playing against Tammy. The victory ended up being in Tammy's favor.
Now, I know from hearing it all over forums and such that the Wii actually brought families together around the tube and parents were even getting into the gaming craze with Wii Sports. So, asside from hearing all of the "negative" things about video games, it's nice to hear some good stories every now and then.
Video games mean so much more for parents. Being a gaming parent means more quality time with our children and more sharing. It gives us insight to what our children enjoy and gives us control over what our children do.
