Call of Duty Black Ops Voted ‘Best Game Ending’ Of All Time
18 hours 9 mins ago
Tons of people are disappointed with the beta version of PlayStation Home, and Perry Piekarski over at Binge Gamer is no different. He went through the reasons why he (and tons of other people) thinks Home has failed, some of which include long loading times and spending some dough for just about everything.
Imagine taking the Sims and removing the god factor and the ability to control multiple characters at once. Then, make it so the player must now pay for any add-ons to his house and solitary character using moneyreal money. Basically, imagine taking the Sims and sucking all the fun from it (and introducing some economics).
Well, in a nutshell, thats what PlayStation Home is. Sure, it looks pretty (the graphics bear a striking resemblance to the Tony Hawks Pro Skater series), but when it comes down to it, Home is straight-up lame.

Not gonna write off Home just yet; it has the potential to be fantastic and addicting.
Except Home isn't a game, it's a social networking application and to be honest that's not what a beta truly is. That's a demo and tbh, people must have high standards and assume perfection even in beta's and quite frankly not only is that sad, but a bad way to view things.
BETA's are server testers which literally is meant to give some feel of what the full version could be(which a much higher potential), but also make sure the servers don't cause issues on release on the full version and fix any bugs still within the system.
He's talking about that it's not all it's cracked up to be. I mean really Home is something you'd fondle around with when you're bored and maybe spend hours on if you have no life, and start paying for extra textures when the boredom becomes terminal. Seriously do people actually pay for this shit? Just to add more excitement to their sanctuary of boredom. And now they completely stripped voice chats which is lame. I mean really this just caters to the anti-social more than anything. It's just lame. This whole avatars/Miis/Home trend is lame. I give Sony props for trying a more decorated approach though.
Most of the time I go on Home a don't even touch the games.I have a lot of fun doing what Home is mostly about, and that is communicating with others. It's far better than messaging back and forth trough the XMB.Home is a great way to make PSN friends.
I also like the game adverts and such.I was sitting there watching the Loco Roco 2 trailer with a big smile and bobbing along with the music the whole way through.
But making fun of Home is just the cool thing to do right now, like how hating on E3 was pretty cool for a few months, or how it was cool to like the Titanic movie when it came out, but some time later, disliking the movie became the new fad.
The Home-is-failure bandwagon will pass.
I actually thought it sounded neat in theory. Hopefully Sony will take all these complaints to heart and do something about them. I rather like NXE, and sometimes wish Microsoft would push the interactive features a bit further like what Sony is trying to do. Still, the Avatars are a big step forward.
I'm not going to waste my time bashing something I don't like just because it's the "cool" thing to do.
The time's i have been on HOME i haven't really known what to do, i just run around. Having said that i haven't been on many times and it is only in its BETA stage
Jesus does anyone actually looks up what home is, or do you just assume it's a game?
now on the other hand the avatar is a little pointless i mean really yeah kids and some other people may like spending hours editing there avatar instead of playing a game or something but the netflix thing is cool but i think later on you will be able to watch movies with friends in the party but im not 100% on that.
now back on the HOME thing i haven't played it so i really don't know what to think about it so im blank.
Home isn't nearly as good as I hoped.
Also, this article is Fail for totally failing to mention the crazy censor >_> That thing is bloody annoying.
I mostly use home to chat with some people (faster than messaging, except when censor slows things down), and maybe put in a game of bowling or pool with said people....
I don't plan to spend any money on it. Maaaaybe for a TV, if there isn't a free one on the full version release (ditto for radio and picture frame).
Just about the whole time I'm on my PS3, there is about half of my PSN friends are on Home.
What about those friends in other states you make on PSN that become as good as personal friends?
It's not like you can just get in your car and drive to your friends house whenever you want if they're in a completely different state.
People need to learn that Home isn't that different to MySpace or Facebook apart from the fact that it's far more interactive.
But I guess I'm just someone who tends to like things that everyone else says Bombed or is Lame or is a Failure. Which is fine, considering I really don't care about whether someone else likes it, so long as I like it. I love HOME, the potential there is HUGE, and I'm more than happy going on it and using HOME for what it is, instead of what it is NOT. (Which is why many don't like HOME. They don't see or use it for what it is. They have other ideas and think of it as a game.)
All I found was guys crowding around one girl and dancing or people screaming random shit while running around aimlessly. I didn't see the appeal in it so I thought I'd go to the Mall to see if I could find new clothes or decorations for my house. Turns out you actually have to pay for these miniature shit. I don't see who in their right mind would actually pay for these little things. I'd rather not pay a dollar for a shirt, or anything like that.
