King Koopa= King of a Turtle Tribe with super duper black magic spells? Apparently so, just whip out your game manual like our article author did and have a look see.

One day the kingdom of the peaceful mushroom people was invaded by the Koopa, a tribe of turtles famous for their black magic. The quiet, peace-loving Mushroom People were turned into mere stones, bricks and even field horse-hair plants, and the Mushroom Kingdom fell into ruin.

The only one who can undo the magic spell on the Mushroom People and return them to their normal selves is the Princess Toadstool, the daughter of the Mushroom King. Unfortunately, she is presently in the hands of the great Koopa turtle king.
Mario, the hero of the story (maybe) hears about the Mushroom People's plight and sets out on a quest to free the Mushroom Princess from the evil Koopa and restore the fallen kingdom of the Mushroom People.
You are Mario! It's up to you to save the Mushroom People from the black magic of the Koopa!

Wait is this the real storyline or is this the storyline of a new mario game coming off? I understand it, but I don't know what it connects to...

Read the article like you're meant to before asking questions.

How is this news? No one but me had read the manual for Super Mario Bros. prior to this news article? I thought Koopa Troopas being turtles given magic by King Koopa was common knowledge by any gamer at least in their 20's?

Spoiler alert: Goombas are magical mushrooms that turned against Toads and sided with King Koopa when he invaded the Mushroom Kingdom. I hope I didn't ruin a storyline that came about over two decades ago

No, most people didn't know that because most of us were fairly young and either lost or never read the manual. I think I lost the manual about 5 second after I opened the box. And why would I care when SMB didn't need a deeper explaination than run, jump.

I reckon I read that in the manual when I was a child.

Sounds good. Shame the idea wasn't clearer in the actual game.

Black magic is just a type of magic used. It is not a projectile weapon or a weapon of any sort xD.

The point Star was making was, He never showed or used any black magic against Mario only throwing the weapon. At least that's what I got from it.

I don't remember the Koopas doing anything like that to be honest. It's strange how the storyline really has hardly any significance with the game.

Oh yeah. I remeber them with their stupid hammers. I also hated the red spiky things that were thrown from that cloud.

I think that's because it was probably written by some druggy who hadn't even seen the game.
