I understand that there's time and money involved, and developers usually focus on gameplay or graphics or something else...but damn, they should try to make it more well-rounded. Some mention the experience is what happens when you're in control, sure that's quite important, that's what drives us to keep playing, but so does a good story. Meh, there's no easy way out of 'lame' video game endings, especially now that companies are heading into debt...make due with what we have I suppose.
The ending of Gears 2 was horrible, like you said. It was very sudden and left you feeling extremely disappointed.
And that boss fight....wtf? I won't give anything away, but I was extremely disappointed with that. It looked so badass, and my immediate thought was, "I can't wait to fight that!", and it ended up being, literally, the worst boss fight I've ever experienced.
People say it was meant to be an "Interactive-Cutscene", but I don't care. In fact, if that's the case, then I'm even more disappointed that the developers wanted to half-ass things, and practically cut out what could've been a great boss fight, but the decided to make it an interactive-cutscene.
It was an extremely disappointing game because of that. It was fun the first time through, but that's all, for me, at least. I played through Gears 1 at least 20 or 30 times, and I've played through Gears 2 about one-and-a-half times...
