Mass Effect 2 Secrets Revealed

There are many game series that aren't quite as good as they once were, and it seems as though devs simply have no idea how to fix them. GamesRadar have a few suggestions to improve some ailing franchises. Go to the source for full article ...
We get it. Its hard enough for a company - dev or publisher - to turn a profit with each game release. Given the choice, would you risk losing tens of millions to completely reinvent your money-maker, or play it safe with a slight upgrade you designate a sequel? Hell, it took Capcom five tries to reinvent Resident Evil 4 and Ubisoft has no clue what to do with Splinter Cell: Conviction.
Weve got some tips for these companies. Weve come up with some ideas to reinvent franchises before they go the Sonic route. Behold: the franchises that would benefit from some plastic surgery.

As for Castlevania, I liked Lament of Innocence, but it did feel a lot like Devil May Cry. I wouldn't change the series too much though (and I intend on playing that new fighter game sometime soon).
Grand Theft Auto did seem to change a little bit from San Andreas to IV, and not in the best way. It had some improvements, but a game about crazy crime activities shouldn't be made more realistic. I don't want to run into so many problems trying to get away from lower wanted level cops. Let me create havoc! I like what this article said about making this series feel more like an MMO (I still want those gang meters back), but I'd like it if these games got a bit crazier again.
Dynasty Warriors is also a big series that needs some kind of revamping. It now tailors to the hardcore fans and not much else. I'd love if more strategy was put into the game, giving it more of a Kessen feel so you have more control over the entire battle, rather than running your ONE guy around annihilating entire armies. I feature that would let you climb up the ranks in Musou Mode and control more and more sub-generals, allowing you to switch between the sub-generals and control them at will, as well as directing which way your army goes on the battlefield or where to stay put to guard key areas. Blending the DW action with more RTS would enhance this game series and allow for more replayability, by allowing you to change how battles unfold.
For matrix, another idea could be: You're The One, but not quite aware of what the matrix is. You slowly start realizing you can do superhuman/insane things (like jumping to the tops of buildings, leaping great distances, kick monster ass, and can't get hurt easily). It would make sense that, like neo, your powers, as you become more aware of them, and used to them, develop and get stronger (a leveling mode, which is convenient for games). As the story progresses, Agents start showing up, and you start realizing there is a vast conspiracy, and it is slowly revealed that the whole world, the matrix, your abilities, and the Agents are all connected.
Actually, another idea for The Matrix is a prequel (perhaps based on my aformentioned idea). Yes, a prequel. Remember the previous The One? He freed the first. He would have to be rather badass to be able to do everything himself (free himself, and free others. He managed to free himself after all, makes him better than Neo IMO).
GTA - YES, I've been wanting a more open world. Not so structered (lol at saying that about GTA). I can choose to do missions, or I can ignore them. Yes, an ultimate objective is a must, but make sure there are a large number of ways toreach there. From going from lowly thug to the boss, or forming your own gang to put them out of business, or whacking the people in the mob in order to maneuver yourself into taking over the gang, or perhaps even beng the 'good~ish anti-hero vigilante' that just hunts down mobsters. That, and some, sounds really sweet to me.
I like all of that....But I doubt they'll do that....
SH: Homecoming is quite a bad example to compare. Mostly because the game was way too linear and consisted of obvious monster bashing to proceed through the game (let alone graphical faults). Even The Room made innovative puzzle solving and Origins did a hell of a job in the exploration department...
I'm not about to bend over and give into the Action Horror bug when the franchise has done great without it.
(isn't it funny that so many reviewers' main complaints about SH4 was that the game had become too action-oriented, yet once Homecoming was released everyone praised it's updated action-oriented combat. And here we have a gaming site claiming that the series would be better if it switched to the more action-oriented first-person view. *sigh* some people just can't be pleased)
Path of Neo was bloody awesome, if you just got used to the controls. I'd really like some dev to improve the same engine and do it again.
And scratch the Mega Smith this time.
Oh well, guess I can't expect much from a "TOP # *WORD* LIST!!" that forces you to cause extra hits by splitting the content into multiple pages.
Anyway I'd like to see, don't know if anyone agrees, is Road Rash to be return. It was the only Kickass Game EA actually done right. Bring some of the classics(1-3) to the XBLM and PSN and remake some with 3D graphics. That'd be kickass.
and with Castlevania 3D games, yeah, the environments need a facelift. the gameplay is pretty good, make the combat more similar to DMC (really over the top moves, etc) but they can easily 1-up DMC by doing Castlevania type things like creating your own weapons which i loved from Curse of Darkness. actually, make the game basically a RPG version of DMC and i think it would rule. really good combat moves, but with RPG elements. as for sub weapons: you use a whip primarily like before, but for subweapons you have many more to choose from, not all are ranged weapons. i.e., if you pick a sword as a sub, you have access to special 2 handed moves that include fighting with a whip in 1 hand and the sword in the other (bind an enemy by wrapping him with the whip, then do a smash attack with the sword, etc). where as if you pick other things like throwing knives, you have the usual ranged attacks.
all im saying is that if I can come up with really good ideas for a new 3D Castlevania without even trying, Konami must just not even care anymore.
But you can't just go and change a games viewpoint. Silent Hill has already established that the story is about someone else. Not the character and the player together.
