I've thought some low-scoring games were awesome, while I've thought some high-scoring games were horrible and not even worth a rent!
I really hate the console war . . . when will people realize that the words "best," "better," "worse," "worst," are relative words and dependent on the one playing the games and using the game system.
Can't we all get along?
With that said, these articles should always be taken with a grain of salt.
But that's my opinion and other gamers will rant and rave about how great the game is despite me. Everyone is entitiled to an opinion.
With RPG's, FPS and the likes, I really hope no-one prefers to do these things in reality.
Heck for that matter you can do real life RPGs too. There are groups that get together and wage massive battles iwth foam rubber swords and sheilds. Som really get into it and wear armor or dress up like orcs and such. Once again the story suffers somwhat but the game play rocks.
I have found that some of the games of this generation, which have received low scores were quite fun. Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, for instance.
Too Human on the 360 was another one that was glossed over far too heavily. Really, it was one of the first great games for the 360 that was not a shooter. (which, shooters are fine in their own right...but come on.)
And well, as far as the PS3 goes, i bought mine for Metal Gear Solid 4, other than that i don't really use it...it's pretty much just a blue ray player for myself.
I'm anxious to see what each console pumps out this year, especially the PS3 (so i can use it for more than movies and metal gear)
The PS3 however does have the best exclusives but that's just my oppinion.
But it's my opinion and nothing more. It's neither right, nor wrong.. just how I feel
A lot of people are assuming this is over each console's entire lifespan, though. Wish people would actually include important shit in titles nowadays, not just what will attract the most arguments.
Wish he'd either include PC or just include Left 4 Dead in the lineup, though.
However, I think that getting only three big hitters in a year for PS3 is kinda sad TBH; not the huge comeback I expected. 360 had Gears 2, Fable 2, L4D, and Braid top ratings charts. PS3 had MGS4 and LBP. While admittedly last year wasn't full of blockbusters, we still had more releasing. And personally I think it's about time we got some exclusives that don't disappoint us all the time; more like MGS4, R2 and LBP, please!
Now while it's no surprise that PS3 was #1 with exclusives in 08 what was surprising is that the Wii was #2. I can only think of maybe 4 hot Wii titles last year, but the only ones standing out above the rest on other consoles was SSBB and No More Heroes.
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
No More Heroes
Wii Sports (enough people like it that it's casual, but not horrible)
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Ghost Squad
And it's ok to make a sequel a few times, you know.
Wii Sports?? are you *bleep*ing JOKING???
That's why a reviewer either has to like the genre they are reviewing or they have to be truly unbiased.
Yea, bad pun. I'll be leaving now.
As much fun as i've had with my Xbox 360, I must say that I feel I've fallen for the Microsoft hypetrain a little. Many of their "BIG EXCLUSIVES" like Gears of War, Halo, Mass Effect, and Left4Dead were not as great as I thought they would be. Then again, the internet is constantly challenged to realistic ideals and opinions. I felt I purchased my Xbox360 more out of hype rather than want. Having said that, my opinions are not the same as everyone else, and many will love the Xbox 360 more than anything else, and good on you for doing so too; showing that you do not conform to internet hype and website bias.
And that, is the reason I hate reviews. Behind the fancy artwork and html spreading, its just peoples opinions. They gloss it all up with fancy wording and comical anecdotes, but its no different to all of us having an opinion..
The Wii's exclusives were average also. Twilight Princess and Super Mario Galaxy bored me senceless, as did Metroid Prime and SSBB. I just felt no connection or enjoyment from them whatsoever. But different people have different experiences and I cannot speak for anyone but myself.
So Im definately a Playstation man. Never again will I buy all three consoles, or more than one console in fact. Sony and their products have my cheque, and for good reason; they have provided ME with the best games and the best experience possible.
Guess what im trying to say is that everyone should just enjoy their favourite console and stick to it. Relish that one experience which feels best to you, and do not let the opinions of others, as much as they may sway you, alter your perception and unique gaming experience. Each to their own.
And another thin- *shot for talking too much*
