In the wake of several over-reported incidents with immature metacritic users abusing said site, this article aims to confront and attack the people who are behind the low user review averages that are being given to every system exclusive that comes out.

Any chimpanzee with a keyboard can contribute to the Metacritic user review average, though, so it has literally zero credibility. The Metacritic users who are bringing down the user review averages on games are stooges who need to find something better to do with the bountiful time on their hands. They probably won't, however, as they've proven themselves to be immature manbabies.

    Amen.

Get a life people. No one really cares what the "User Review" score of a game is.

Most people don't really give a damn what the actual review of a game is.

I don't tend to look at the reviews for games and just try em myself, i prefer my own likes to the likes of the reviewer.

Reviews are good though. Most of the time they are pretty on the ball.

I care about reviews. Not ones that are obviously bias or stupid though. As someone who can't afford to spend a lot of money on games and who doesn't live in a place where renting is cheap or easy, reviews (along with the gameplay videos, news articles and other such things) a lot of the time are the deciding factor between a purchase and a pass. As long as you check out some credible sources for said reviews and providing they say similar things to each other then you can trust them a fair bit more then a lot of people think.

Saying that, NEVER trust user-reviews. I mean, giving people the freedom to be idiots (especially on the internet) generally is something that attracts idiots. I'm not saying all user-reviews are bad or anything, but finding a good one is like wading through sewage to find a cheap piece of fake jewellery; unless it has some strange sentimental value to you, it's pointless.

I think it generally depends on how the user review is written. I generally tend to ignore the scores of any review (professional or otherwise) and instead read the content. If a review is along the lines of immature fanboyism then the content is going to be crap and I'll immediately pass on it. On the other hand, if it is well written then it's worth reading. It doesn't matter if it's by someone in the journalism industry or what you might term as an 'average gamer'. A well founded opinion has value; it doesn't matter who wrote it.
