BlackAss of blackandwhitegames.net blogs about fanboys and how generally, they're a bunch of idiots. The aim is to remind people it's about the fun and for companies the money, not loyalty.

Fanboys have been plaguing the Internet for quite some time with their silly propaganda, heinous slander, & a laggard intellect that leaves the rest of us sane humans flabbergasted at the fact that these are the type of people we not only have to deal with on forums or blogs, but also in person typically at retailers where I purchase my games from. I just don't understand the logic behind being a fanboy, I mean the way I see it it's a lose lose situation. These companies do not compensate you for your fanboy service, you don't get a fanboy of the month placard, or anything worth the time & effort.

Reading the title I thought it was going to give off reasons why you would actually want to be a fanboy. Someone should make one!

I feel fanboyism tends to lean more towards immaturity rather than stupidity.

    I wouldn't say they're idiots, they're just obsessive.
It does get quite annoying when you see the same name/s popping up and defending the console they own with all sorts of random, irrelevant facts and they wont back down regardless of how wrong they're proven to be.

But whatever, it's not like anybody will lose sleep over it.

That's what we call an intelligent fanboy, you have reasons as to why you like your system, and reasons as to why you don't like others, this coming from a Nintendo fanboy...

In a nutshell a stupid fanboy doesn't back up their argument while an intelligent fanboy can make a peruasive and in depth argument (sometimes too much so, most of them really need to learn reader's digest, myself included).

Am I the only one who gets just as annoyed at fanboys as I do with the guys who go into an apoplectic rage when a fanboy shows up?

    Seriously, just ignore them.

That's fine if they go away or a mod shoots them in the back of the head. But some fanboys are trolls almost as much as they are fanboys. They will willfully and purposely go looking for a fight.

In fact when I first started Modding the PS3 forum I frequently ad to shoot new members in the back of the head. Because all they would do is roll into the forum and post something like:

      "PS3 IS TeH SuXoRs!?!!? 360 RU1EZ URE A2zz!"!?!>!?##$(@)"

And then I would have to ban them and remove the thread and wait for the next one.

If someone wants to defend a console that's fine. They all have their good points. If you like Mario better than Master Chief that's great. If Ratchet & Clank is more your style than Kirby or Marcus Fenix that's good too. And if you want motion controls over LIVE or Blu-ray playback that's also good. Just be civil about it.

As for why anyone would want to be a fanboy, I'm not sure most set out to be a fanboy. I would think that the average person would see all things equal. But then they find something that pisses them off. Like tey can only afford one console so they have to pick the one that has everything they want, or think they want. Then as time passes they see the competition getting things they wanted. Perhaps a game or two maybe a new feature. But they can't get the other console because they are locked into the one they already have. So they convince themselves that they don't want the thing they can't have. And then it escalates as they try to convince others that the thing that they can't have to stupid. Eventually they are ranting and raving about how awful this game is or how pointless that feature is and they are foaming at the mouth when someone dares to disagree with them. Then eventually someone accuses them of being a fanboy and they have to justify why they aren't a fanboy. It is just a spiralling cycle of destruction based entirely on justifieing their very expensive purchase.

It might also have someting to do with the whole "keeping up with the Jones" attitude. The neighbor Jones bought a new boat so you have to buy a bigger boat. Or something equally expensive and pointless to show off. This is a I'm as good or better than you type thing. And again it escalates to stupid perportions until Jones wins because he has more money than you. Well in a forum it is "my console is better than yours" or even worse "my epenis is bigger than your" mentality. And so they will battle back and forth to try and prove something that can't be prove since it is all a matter of opinion anyway.

I will admit it im a sonic fanboy. God its so sad though that most of the sonic fanboys i have seen are more immature than any other fanboy. Although it kinda stems from growing up on a genises and snes.

As for the console fanboyism i guess i was a nintendo fan boy for awhile then somehow we got all 3 consoles so now i can enjoy what ever games i want.
