OXCGN writer David Hilton finds an interesting way to spend a holiday, one where reality and fun are very blurred indeed.

Ever thought of playing out your very own style of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, with guns, and all the trappings, well he's found one at Fisherman's Wharf in the Island of Macau.

Hop over to the site, check out the article and pics of the real-world game that could separate the men, from the boys.

You think you are hot stuff in Call of Duty 4 or an accomplished Call Of Duty: World At War Vet and are looking forward to the next Modern Warfare installment in 2009? How about a real challenge; one where you wear the gear and shoot the weapons and not just sit in your t-shirt with a controller looking at a screen. How about playing Modern Warfare for ‘real’?

If you’re anything like me you’re happy to play the video game but heading off to Iraq or somewhere else hot and hostile and deadly isn’t what you’d call fun.

In fact thinking about it makes me need to take a toilet break. Sure we gamers talk tough with our ’simulated’ warfare, but in the real thing there is no health regeneration or restarts.

So it is paintball in an urban setting rather than the usual woods setting. Interesting but hardly something to get to excited over. Maybe if it were closer...

I thought real CoD was iraq? Endlessy spawning enemies, not getting anywhere...

I think if you want "realism" without actually joining the army, then airsoft kicks paintballs ass.

The only difference between paintball and airsoft is that the majority of airsoft players are the military-wannabe's who are too much of a pansy to actually join the military in the first place.

The guns look cooler. But really there isn't much difference in how the games are played.

Yea, I like the aesthetic look of the guns for airsoft more so than paintball. With my SP1 I use a remote line because having a tank of air on the gun seems odd and the giant hopper of paint...*sadface* but it's still fun so I can cope

Wonder if you get enough hits, can you call in a paintball air strike? =d

Not sure how that'd work but there are such things as "paintball grenades"

You can get some for about $3-5 at any paintball store.

It's simple, theres a few pieces of rope connecting to different parts of the map, hoisted above ground and when someone calls an airstrike he flies accross hoisting himself over the ropes, dropping paint from alot of buckets!

It is kind of like a simulated version, but not irl. The get up is alright.

Haha, damn geeks Would seem like a pretty fun idea though, if it wasn't set over the other side of the world...

Haha, you mean this is the first time people have thought about having paintball in a non-woody setting?! Wow, I could be making some money if I had acted out on these thoughts long long long ago!

I don't know that it is the first time. But it is the first time I have heard of it. You could still make some cash if you have the facilities to build an urban setting for paintball/airsoft. Heck any setting that's not woods would be fairly unique.

Wow it took them this long to figure out that paintball is the way forward for "acting" out videogames without actually killing people? Sheesh me and my friends last year went paintballing and did alsorts of crap

and yeah I got hit by a legendary shot with a paintball grenade...my mate was out of paintballs and was about to call himself out since that was the rule. Just as he put his hand up and I was hammering his tree with paintballs, he remembered the 'nade...grabbed it and in hope, threw it at me. Next minute I heard a sizzling sound...looked around and spotted the 'nade.

Problem was I was lying down in a ditch at the time, well hidden from being shot...I basically made myself as small as possible and dug myself into the ground...when the smoke cleared I thought I was lucky until one of the game officials took a full look and spotted a splodge of paint on my helmet...I was gutted

Anyhoo...would love to do paintballing again
