Rockstar ought to take a serious look at Rio as a location for future GTA games. Real life GTA scenarios are already acted out there on a daily basis.

Rio de Janeiro is just asking for a Grand Theft Auto remake. A large gap between the rich and the poor, abundance of foreign tourists, thriving drug trade and pervasive police corruption due to low wages combine to create a petri dish for criminal activities. But don’t take my word for it, check out these excerpts from the Overseas Security Advisory Council… they make it sound like the acts common in a GTA game are actually commonplace in Brazil’s second largest city:

Whenever I think about a GTA in South America, for some reason I picture Farcry 2. >.>

I really don't think Grand Theft Auto should leave America. I don't know, GTA London was kind of pushing it but having a locale where English isn't the first language would seem really off and the dialog would seem forced and unrealistic. After all, the original Grand Theft Auto was a parade of USA.

        Britain=Scotland, England, Wales.

Lol glasgow would be funny. Imagine if they did a Liverpool one? OMG Daily mail would have a field day, would no doubt get banned.

Yeah I know. Doesn't mean you cant make mistakes. I met some guy who thought that the UK was just England(and he wasn't American).

Yeah, but I'm from Britain. There's no way I couldn't know I lived in Britain.

I actually said this in the GTA forums.

If would be quality if the game was loosely based around the film 'City of God'

Dood, screw Rio. The next GTA should take place in the San Francisco Bay Area. More specifically, Oakland.

Oakland is the 5th most dangerous city in America. Pretty much 70% of it's population is majorly thugged out. It would be the perfect locale for a GTA Game.

Then it would just be GTA San Fierro, as San Fierro was based off of San Fransisco in San Andreas.

What the did for San Fierro barely scratched the surface of some of the shit that goes down in the San Francisco. Also, remember that the Bay Area as a whole is more than just San Francisco, it's made up of other cities, such as Oakland, San Jose, Richmond, Fremont, and more.

they've done LA, New York, and Miami (in the 3d titles, anyway). yea, Rio De Janeiro is clearly the obvious next choice in this pattern.

i agree, they should consider detroit. or DC.

DC would piss off way too many people, which is probably why they would do it.

      Chicago could work out too.

Yeah, I've been wanting a GTA Carcer City for quite some time now as they mention the city in almost every GTA game and it's part of the GTA universe. I think in Manhunt, Carcer City was loosely based off of either Detroit or Chicago.

Boston would be cool, it is the perfect size for a GTA game I think, they could fit the whole city in probably, and maybe even some surrounding areas.

      Fertro Jan 17, 09
Mm, Boston would be great. It would, suit the environment of a GTA game.

What about Australia ? I kid, even as an Aussie I don't think it'd go well in Ausland.

That would be kinda interesting. All these Jamaican dudes with dreads selling these huge drug shipments. However, I'm hoping for Tokyo for the next location. Maybe you could deal with the Yakuza and possibly work for them.

      Hellfire29 Jan 17, 09
I GTA3 you got to work for the Yakuza.
I would go for Florida with Cuba in the south.(Perfect for drug running)

IMHO, the next GTA shouldn't leave America. Or atleast, it shouldn't be set in any place where English is not the primary language, and we are forced to listen to dialogues delivered in strange accents.

Tokyo would be good, but there's already been a 'Chinatown' scenario in Liberty City, and even though it was small, I wasn't too impressed myself.

Yeah, But they don't have a Japanese town. Tokyo would be good, all high tech crap an all that.

I don't actually mind where GTA is set. As long as the gameplay is good and the storyline is good, I'll be buying it.
