Each system has their own advantages, but that also means that each system has their own disadvantages as well. According to this article from Second Story Gamer, the 360 and Wii should take advantages of some of the positives on the Playstation 3, like making rechargeable batteries the standard, utilizing the Blu-Ray technology, and even considering doing a system facelift.

Every single issue this article presents adds to the cost of the console, which I think is what people find most off putting about the PS3 at this time. A lot of fans don't realize that your everyday consumer does not care about long term investment when buying a console. That's why the Wii and 360 (WITHOUT AN HDD UNIT) are selling so well. Even if you tried to explain to a consumer that paying $100 more will get them a 360 with an HDD, they can only think of the $199 starting price.

It's how people are. I think the PS3 has a market, but it's just not a very big one as of this moment. There are people who look at Blu-Ray and simply don't care. If Nintendo and Microsoft seriously did try to adapt more of the PS3's hardware features into their own systems, prices would just nudge back up.

And how can anything be "future-proof"? Can the PS3 (or any current-gen machine) still be considered innovative in 10 years? Sony talks a lot about its consoles' long lifespans, but things just change so quickly I can't imagine the PS3 being the leading console a decade from now. It'll be interesting to see what Nintendo and Microsoft have planned for their gaming future.

Point 3 wouldn't add to the cost. The PS3 controllers cost exactly the same as the 360 and Wii controllers. And only the PS3 controllers have a built in battery. Honestly I do hate changing the batterys on the 360 and Wii. Not to mention I hate the battery pack on the 360. I usually prefer to use the wired controller because it is more comfortable.

Nor would point 2 or 5 for that matter. Those could be done via firmware updates. At least to the 360 anyway.

Idk, they seem fine to me. Maybe they could upgrade them when the make the Xbox720, Wii 2, and PS4.

      Or make a super-console called the PSWii60.

      Pretty fun tbh.

NSX has made me smile with the simple statement that all consoles have their advantages (as well as disadvantages). I'm always glad to see realizations such as that Thank you

this article is very biased towards PS3. what Rabidchinagirl said, no one really thinks about a long term investment. in 10 years or however long they are talking about, technology will be so much more advanced that the PS3 will look fairly antiquated, so nobody will really want one that much, so thats a pretty stupid statement.

also Blu ray only appeals to a certain niche of consumers, not everyone cares about it right now. i sure dont, DVDs are still perfectly fine. i honestly dont give 2 shits about multi-disc games where i have to get up and put in disc 2 to continue playing the game. it takes what, 10 seconds? oh wow, thats just awful.

the main turn off of the PS3 is Sony's apparent unwillingness to hold on to several of their exclusives. now i can only hope for their sake they will do so this year. theyve lost Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy...and Metal Gear Solid if you count MGS2 Substance which was on Xbox. Sony will never lose God of War cause its 1st party, but if they dont watch it they could lose more 3rd party exclusives.

This isn't a biased article. It was part of a 3 part series. The next two articles will be focusing on the positives of the 360 and Wii.
