Each system has their own advantages, but that also means that each system has their own disadvantages as well. According to this article from Second Story Gamer, the 360 and Wii should take advantages of some of the positives on the Playstation 3, like making rechargeable batteries the standard, utilizing the Blu-Ray technology, and even considering doing a system facelift.

It's how people are. I think the PS3 has a market, but it's just not a very big one as of this moment. There are people who look at Blu-Ray and simply don't care. If Nintendo and Microsoft seriously did try to adapt more of the PS3's hardware features into their own systems, prices would just nudge back up.
And how can anything be "future-proof"? Can the PS3 (or any current-gen machine) still be considered innovative in 10 years? Sony talks a lot about its consoles' long lifespans, but things just change so quickly I can't imagine the PS3 being the leading console a decade from now. It'll be interesting to see what Nintendo and Microsoft have planned for their gaming future.
Nor would point 2 or 5 for that matter. Those could be done via firmware updates. At least to the 360 anyway.
Pretty fun tbh.
also Blu ray only appeals to a certain niche of consumers, not everyone cares about it right now. i sure dont, DVDs are still perfectly fine. i honestly dont give 2 shits about multi-disc games where i have to get up and put in disc 2 to continue playing the game. it takes what, 10 seconds? oh wow, thats just awful.
the main turn off of the PS3 is Sony's apparent unwillingness to hold on to several of their exclusives. now i can only hope for their sake they will do so this year. theyve lost Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy...and Metal Gear Solid if you count MGS2 Substance which was on Xbox. Sony will never lose God of War cause its 1st party, but if they dont watch it they could lose more 3rd party exclusives.
so its not realyl a concern anymore.
