Bethesda said this weekend the post-game downloadable content (DLC) for Fallout 3 will not be made available for PS3 owners, in keeping with the company's decision to not bring the Operation Anchorage content to the platform either. It being probably the biggest title of 2008, that certainly sends a message...

With this, AlleyInsider writer Eric Krangel examines what exactly is going on with Sony, and just how much trouble they seem to be in.

We don't know if Bethesda is in the middle of a spat with Sony (SNE), or if the company just realized it sells so many more copies for the X360 that the effort of PS3 development isn't worth it.

Bethesda said the same thing when confronted about trophies. Then 6 months later, TROPHY PATCH!!! So, I'm still crossing my fingers that they do us PS3 owners right. Shit, at least let me level past 20.....I've only completed half of the quests/missions and already my level is maxed.

Talk about an over-reaction. Let's forget all the exclusive PS3 things we have just because we're not getting Fallout DLC (supposedly (which I say because there have been many things we've been told we aren't getting but then have magically recieved )). Bloggers need to chill the *bleep* out, the situation with Sony isn't as apocalyptic as it may seem.

Didn't Bethesda confirm this months ago?

I think the previous statements Bethesda made were in regards to the DLC levels the 360 is getting. The article is about the game being able to go on forever instead of just ending (how it is currently).

My mistake for not putting that in. Thanks. Edited.

That sucks for the PS3 users. More love for 360 users like myself.

I suppose DLC just works better on the 360. And 360 players are more used to paying for stuff than PS3 players. So, I guess Bethesda just stuck with what they thought was going to make the most money.

Same as Rockstar with the Lost and Damned GTA IV DLC probably.

No, Microsoft paid for the GTA DLC. They also paid for most of the Fallout DLC. It doesn't work better on the 360 at all. In fact most games get exactly the same treatment on both consoles unless Microsoft pays for something extra.

Obviously this guy hasn't done his research as the current situation is pretty much both of the above, there is no "or".

Since the days of Oblivion, Sony and Beth Soft haven't seen eye to eye, especially on the concept of DLC, I still remember Sony pretty much saying "you can keep your DLC" and yet suddenly the PS3 version gained Knights of the nine integrated with the PS3 release and then Shivering Isles when the game went GOTY.

That was mostly due to Beth Soft complying with Microsoft with an early release of Oblivion, giving 360 and PC owners a year headstart on the PS3

It's the same thing all over again but this time Sony have no excuse about a console being delayed for release. However I believe that the PS3 will get Broken Steel (the third DLC that will make the game continue the game)

Take a moment to thing about Beth Soft's actions...forget the media and forget Sony and Microsoft.

Beth Soft have a game that has made GOTY in the last few months of 2008, they delay the construction set for a month while announcing 3 DLC's for the next 3 months to come. If they truly hated PS3 and its fans then they would release Broken Steel right now and allow 260 and PC owners to continue the game. Instead they are releasing the two "addons" first.

For those who played Oblivion. Think of the first two DLC as say Oblivion's Horse Armour and Frostcrag Spire (wizards tower)..Broken Steel would be Shivering Isles pretty much.

So overall the PS3 will lose out on DLC but I seriously can't see Beth Soft leaving fans with technically "an unfinished" game...not unless Sony continue to shoot themselves in the foot.

If the PS3's doomed because it's not getting dlc for Fallout, i'm a banana. Also, SJ, I like reading your comments, they're quite interesting.

I don't see what the fuss is about we still get the game, if anything this DLC will be like the GTA DLC. It will be expensive, short and worth missing, exclusive DLC is not selling consoles it's exclusive games and the PS3 right now has some of the best.

      You've played the GTA DLC?

I'm sure you wouldn't be offering an opinion on it otherwise..? That sure would be idiotic, wouldn't it?

Haha i don't have to play GTA's DLC, the fact that it's only running about 20 missions that will be generic "GTA" missions tells me it'll be short. Now maybe Fallout 3 will have a DLC pack like Shivering Isles that might be different but i hope it is something big not a mission pack like Rockstar are doing, if i'm throwing down up to $20 i want a new map aswell.

      Beth Soft are not Rockstar

Sure Beth Soft's track record of "mini-DLC" isn't best when compared to what gamers have put into their games but Beth Soft are best when it comes to expanding their games, Morrowind got Bloodmoon and Tribunal, Oblivion got Shivering Isles. Fallout 3 will no doubt have 3 DLC worth of interesting and hour stacking fun.

When Beth Soft add quests, they don't add mere minutes to the game...they add hours and weeks

I don't know why people would want to get the Alaska DLC anyways. They've said its going to be a combat-heavy, combat-focused campaign, yet the FPS elements of Fallout 3 suck, and are way too easy, so I'm not sure what the appeal is.

Personally I wouldn't even bother playing it if someone gave it to me; and yes this is just my own personal opinion.

Oh no Fallout 3 on PS3 doesn't get the DLC, quick everyone sell their PS3's.

I don't own and likely never will own it so it doesn't bother me.

The people who it does bother aren't going to get rid of their PS3's just because they miss out.

The way this guy talks Fallout 3 is the God of all games which will somehow cause the downfall of the PS3 because of no DLC.

While idiots like him are excited thinking Sony are in SO much trouble, I'll be happy playing all the exciting upcoming exclusives and non exclusives.
