You know how people sometimes take things to far? These people did. An AV club in Wheat Ridge, CO took two dozen 360's and set them on fire, creating a massive bonfire in celebration of the upcoming game, Killzone 2. Sigh, with all that money spent on those 360's, they could have bought the game four dozen times.

Note: Article is a satirical piece about Killzone 2 fanboys.

WHEAT RIDGE, CO – Commuters on I-70 gawked at the massive bonfire that lit the night sky over the highway yesterday evening. The fire, built by the Wheat Ridge High School AV Club, burned into the witching hour before WRFD extinguished it around 5AM this morning. At the bottom of the fire pit, a surprise: local firemen found two-dozen smoldering Xbox 360s, repurposed as kindling, which had fused into a glob of smoky white plastic.

George Robert, the eighteen-year-old President of the Wheat Ridge High AV Club, took responsibility for the ceremonious burning, calling it a “statement piece.” With field reporters and onlookers forming a half-circle around the flames, Mr. Robert set the stage for a call to arms not just for gamers, but, in his words, “self-respecting citizens” across the greater Jefferson County area.

“The time is now, destroy 360s we will,” preached Mr. Robert to his fellow club members and any receptive passerby.

Reminds me of those satirical stories you hear about rich people wiping their butts with $100 bills. I don't care if he was burning Xbox 360s, Wiis, PS3s, DVD players, iPods... that's really sickening. Words cannot express how much I want to bash that kid's face into my knee -- after I take him out with a Mirror's Edge nut shot.

Even worse, he's getting attention for it. Seriously, I hope irony kicks this guy between the eyes by sending Halo fanboys after his PlayStation 3.

A statement piece? So his statement was 'I'm a complete dil-hole who will never have sex', because that's all anyone will see it as, rightfully I may add.

    What a cock.

I don't see it as that. I don't think anything about Sex in regard to this article. Sheesh, Tiger, get your mind out of the gutter man!

But you're a Christian, no? So you're restrited by personal belief to only have sex once married and think of it in that way. I, however, see sex as something two (or, in some cases, more) people can enjoy together, for whatever reasons they so wish (conception of new life, as an enjoyable pass-time, something to make both people feel good, a personal statement of their love for each other etc. etc.)

Thus, to me sex is in many respects like anything else, meaning it can play its part in anything. My mind isn't in the gutter friend, I just don't percieve sex in the same way you do. If that makes me some form of gutter-minded pervert in your eyes, so be it

Being a Christian means nothing, I'm Catholic and have no problem with pre-marital sex.

I don't mean it offensively, I'm just saying that our perceptions on the subject are completely different for that reason, hence why HS would think of me as dirty-minded for the comment.

Tiger, note the wink-face at the end of my comment. My last statement toward you was meant as something of a jab, a joke, a light-hearted "Shame on you, man!"

Yes, I am a Christian (Glad you remembered that, thanks But I wasn't born a Christian, and Christians still struggle with the same thoughts as everyone else, just with a different outcome/desire to either turn away or go for it. You'd be disgusted to hear of the things I used to struggle with regarding sex!)

But that aside, I was talking about . . . not everyone will read about this guy/article and say "He's a complete dil-hole who will never have sex" like you said all anyone would see out of it. I just, you know, don't think of sex when I read this article. But I guess I'm not normal if everyone else here on GG (anyone else think of sex with this article?) does. Again, a light jab there like one friend would do to another in general conversation. Not really calling you a pervert.

Don't get me wrong, I know Christians still deal with things like that, gimme a break I was one for a year myself! lol

I was just saying that's the difference in our perceptions, since I thought of it as you getting on your high-horse, not just a jokey jab (I've found the winky-face tends to be used more for arrogance when making a point then for humour lol). And sure, not everyone would think that as a reaction to it, that's why it's a figure of speech and not a literal term . Like you've said though, I merely misunderstod what you meant; my argumentative nature makes my perceptions of comments not too bright these days XD

Wouldn't it be funny if he put Killzone 2 in his PS3 and it caught fire? I don't think he'd want attention then.

Nothing like karma to smack some shit into some nerds.

This pisses me off not because I own a Xbox 360, but with today's economy, they effectively wasted thousands of dollars.

I would have laughed my *bleep*ing ass if that bonfire got out of control, damaged private property or seriously injured somebody, and then this prick had to face jail time. That, or Killzone ends up sucking.

I'm not one to go all green-peace about this, but...

Isn't this really, really, bad for the environment? Senselessly burning electronics?

Great job on the blog....I was dying when it described the local police assigning one squad car to the mall parking lot to protect Best Buy, and they would be by Linens and Things to answer questions.....LMFAO

haha..I just read the title and skipped the description and comments and went straight to the source where it *seemed* legit

Want an even larger LOL? I emailed the police chiefs secretary in Wheat Ridge out of curiosity to ask about laws/bylaws pertaining to burning plastic and I linked her the article. Yea, she told me shes never heard of such an incident and redirected me to the fire department....d'oh >_<

But that still doesn't answer my question; is it illegal to burn plastic(s) in the US or do you only need a permit?

          kik36 Jan 29, 09
OK dude that was frickin' hillarious!!!! Those poor bastard in Wheat Ridge are out looking for the remains of a fictional bonfire now.....LMFAO LMFAO

To answer your question, I really am not sure. I remember as a kid (20 some odd years ago) when we'd all go camping and just toss trash into the fire pit in Cali. Whether it was legal or not, I'm not sure. I know you do need one to burn your trash in certain rural areas. Most of the more populated areas force people to separate their trash and recycle their plastics.
