Binge Gamer's Intern Perry takes a look at the elements that make a game and provides a guide for future games to follow. Listing examples, both good and bad, on some obvious subjects and some not so obvious that need to be taken into account: Play Control, Characters/Writing, Graphics/Glitches, Depth/Replay Value, Atmosphere, Licensing, Hype, Initial concept, Sound and Music. Hit up the source for the in depth read.

Let's face it-there are A TON of dreadful video games on the market. Sometimes it seems that for every good title, we get five more that suck.

Thankfully, the gaming gods have generous as of late, bestowing Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead, and other such blessings upon our game consoles. Sadly, this won't last forever, and there will always be that lull where games like Jumper: Griffin's Story or Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis fill the gaps between the gold.

Certainly this list can be put into a reverse effect, serving as the anti-blueprints for-shall I say-THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME! Well, maybe that's a bit much, but it definitely couldn't hurt for some developers to at least consider double checking these issues when planning their next big release.

Of course, if we're going to be looking at the some games that do these things wrong, it’s only fair to list a few that do them right. You know, just to prove it can be done.

    what
did he seriously criticize the good men an women that program the games we love so much by stating there should be ZERO glitches/errors in any game? not only should every single game ever be perfect, but so should the people who build them?

I stopped reading when he awarded Gears of War 2 a win for no glitches. But obviously the guy is a complete idiot since anyone with any sort of computer knowledge will understand it's damn near impossible to have a bug-free game. It's just too much code..

Guys, he never said that good games have no glitches what so ever. He said:
        quote
Still, there's no denying the certain charm that comes with graphical glitches, or glitches in general, really (e.g. Elder Scrolls IV, NES graphical glitches, and Missingno from Pokemon). But when poor graphics and unfixed glitches interfere with the gameplay on a regular basis, that's when things get frustrating.

Poor old Sonic has been pimped out for all he's worth, he really deserves better.

And that... is why the guy who wrote it is still only an intern lol.

Honestly though, I agree with a lot of it, not the whole. The replayablity is definitely not there with Assassin's Creed (though a good game). He disses on Wii Music too much (but then again, I can't fully defend the game because I haven't played it)

Have you ever seen a one trick pony in the field so happy and free?

If you've ever seen a one trick pony then you've seen me.

I'm glad to see that they mentioned BioShock as a good example of atmosphere and play controls, and Grand Theft Auto IV for replayability.

glitches are annoying i mean if you look at a game like gears of war 1 its full of glitches but it soes not mean its a bad game no games are perfect in terms of glitches its vertually impossible to make a glitch less game.

I find it ironic that he listed Super Smash Bros. Brawl in the ''win'' list. I enjoyed Sonic Unleashed WAY more than that piece of...game that's worse than Melee and the N64 version.

Though i'm no fan of Brawl myself, Sonic Unleashed doesn't compare to not only any Smash Bros, but any Mario Party, Mario.. anything. Hell, doesn't even compare to most Sonic games.

Unleashed is not the worst Sonic though, just not a great one.

Personally, while by no means superior to the original, I thought Brawl was quite a bit better (if not more balanced) than melee.

EDIT: I just finished the article...

Megaman 9 wins where Little Big Planet fails? WTFBBQHAX
