In this latest blog from our own Neoseeker/GameGrep user Tainted, we get a brief overview of what SEGA has been up to in the publishing and development ring lately, coupled with the suggestion they are "doing something right...finally".

Between Sonic & The Black Knight, The House of the Dead: Overkill, MadWorld, The Conduit, and more, do you think SEGA is on a better road?

SEGA is one of those developers that seems to be doing well, but hasn't really done anything memorable as of late. Yeah, Sonic games are stilling coming out by the dozen, and they are probably selling well. But for the most part, I haven't been seeing a lot of quality from SEGA, at least not for a long time.

But SEGA seems to be shaping up, producing a Sonic game that isn't atrocious (BLASPHEMY!) and also presenting three Wii titles that are shaping up to be high caliber titles. And what's even more exciting is that none of these games are aimed at the casual market.

I played most of these games today at the ComicCon. First one I went for was Deadly Creatures though, was anticipating that one since last E3. The game takes a bit to adjust to, starts off slow, but ths cutscenes move the story along very well, kept me interested. The moves are also limited, but you pick up some unique stuff as you go along, as well. And the open world stuff can get tedious...thank god they added an arrow that you can display if you're lost, heh.

Madworld was packed...I got to play it thanks to a friend for a few minutes. The gameplay is addicting, reminded me of No More Heroes for some reason. :S I loved the style, too, the art, use of black/white and flashes of colors here and there, controls were steady.

Sonic and the Black Knight...take it how you want, but most if not all of us knew that Sonic with a sword wouldn't work. Running and stopping to attack things is just as bad as the werehog bit. I didn't get to many stages, but there's some bs boss battle where you have to run up to a knight, wait for the Wii-mote shake command, and hit it on time...it looks like a turn-based RPG then, haha. It's just weird, I'm used to going fast and around things in Sonic games, not hitting targets and crap.

The Conduit is a must-have for any Wii owner, imo...that's how good it was. It was fast-paced, great graphics for the Wii, all-around good fun. I mean, there's nothing else I can say on the matter, it was just damn good fun.

The other game I checked out was Turtles: Smash-Up or something. A trailer was shown, a fight between Leonardo and Raphael, somewhat like their fight in the latest CGI film, only comic-style, 'bam', 'smash', etc.. Looks good.

Also not optimistic about the new Sonic game..especially being released so soon after Unleashed..seems like just another title for the kiddies who don't know better.

      Smash-Up is by Ubisoft/Game Arts.
      I agree it looks promising.

Oh right. xD It was just so close to the other Sega games I assumed it was related. Yeah, that Sonic game is one I'd avoid, or if you're an avid Sonic fan, rent. I played a few stages and it just seems so...bland. It's like a stoplight.
