Eurogamer recently came out and stated that Resident Evil 5 contains racist imagery. The author of My Secret Online Thoughts believes that the scenes he mentioned were misinterpreted, and suggests explanations for the supposedly racist scenes.

Capcom probably didn't even think that the scene would be a problem, because most people realize that a Country that is going through what Kijuju is, (i.e. The infection of their citizens and subsequent transforming of them into violent murders) would expierence some civil unrest.

Black people are the most racist people on earth anyways.

I don't recall any black people enslaving millions of white people or a black man going on a genocide of all jews.

But its all BS anyway. Everyone is racist in some way, even if they aren't everyone is no matter what race. Just depends on your values and upbringing.

Hey Deadman, is it just easier going to sleep at night being an ignorant piece of excrement?

I think this "RE5 is racist" crap is as silly as the next person, but it probably would have helped if the article at the source had been written by someone who had actually seen the scenes and/or played the demo.

How is RE5 racist at all? Just because they're killing Africans whilst in Africa?
No one gave a crap about San Andreas being racist, even though it had a very influential gangsta mentality on the entire aspect of the game.

You make a good point, that game portrays black people in a negative stereoytpe which is more racist than RE5 and nobody said anything. Not saying its altogether "racist" but atleast more so than RE5.

Maybe because that 'stereotype' is very real in LA. It seems to be an accepted form of behavior in areas like Compton and Watts. Well I shouldn't say accepted, but it seems to be glorified in many areas for some strange reason.

The mixed race citizens ruin the atmosphere of the game. Unless the foreigners in Kijuju are infected NGO's and Mercenaries then their presence doesn't make any sense.

Well the majority of africa IS black, but there are still a good percentage of other ethnic cultures, so its not that far off.

Maybe if this game was made by a bunch of white developers, I could understand why they'd get so pissed. I don't agree with them but I do understand. However, since this game is made by the Japanese, I just don't see the argument is there. It's not like the Japanese hate black people. In RE4, it was in Spain and you killed, guess what, SPANISH PEOPLE (and two white guys). In Africa, you're going to kill, guess what, BLACK PEOPLE (and probably one white guy which is Wesker).

Actually, there is a huge amount of racism towards blacks in Japan. I had a black buddy who taught in Japan and he had deal with racism all the time; i.e not being able to get into clubs, being turned away at restaurants , etc.

Well, I must be racist if I choose Ryu to beat out Mr Bison in Street Fighter 2 (you know that the SNES version did mess up the names and that I'm speaking about the black boxer).

Come on, if the game is set in Africa, it's normal to meet black people or black zombie and if you're a white trying to get out of this mess, I don't see why it would be racist to kill black zombies.

Also, if I remember, Ghost Recon Desert Siege was taking place in Africa and all your enemies were black, I don't recall a debate about it being racist or not, as the majority of the team in it was white.

Calling this game racist is as stupid as british people saying that "foreigners are taking over" when they are less than 10% of a population of 61 million!

If a train is travelling at ten miles an hour and has left Birmingham at 10:42, at what time will the internet be arguing about it?

About 10:41 because it was supposed to leave at 10:40.
