While gaming industry analyst Michael Cai thinks people should stop looking for a WoW killer, the truth is that World of Warcraft will eventually die, and we may start seeing the beginning of it in the next round of big MMO titles.

    Wow will die soon.

After all Blizzard is making a new MMO, and if it is better than wow its numbers will ship over like crazy.

Remember that people were saying that Age of Conan would be the WoW killer?

If Blizzard were smart, they would stick with the WoW market

LOL, Blizzard isn't going to be the one to kill WoW. The players are going to be the ones to kill it. Ultima Online was the big MMO prior to WoW and when the player base migrated away then the game slowly died. I played UO off and on for five years but even with all that time invested I eventually lost interest. Eventually something is going to be released that the WoW players are going to be more interested in than what they currently have and slowly they will migrate away. It might be WoW2 it might be any of a hundred other games. Or it might just be boredom. But eventually everything must die.

That's what I'm talking about. The current wow players are going to Lap up the new MMO by Blizzard.

Obviously its going to be similar to WOW in the first place so the old "This is nothing like wow I'm going back to that" argument will stand very much.

    ^^ yup.

Obviously no one game is going to be perpetually popular.

I wonder what Blizzard's next MMORPG will be like.

.....WoW will die eventually but even after the next mmo from Blizzard people will still play it. I mean A lot of people still Play Diablo 2 and its almost (or is) 10 years old.

No single MMO is going to bring WoW down, tons of better ones have already been released, but the players just won't abandon the thing, they've invested to much and got to big of a community to warrant moving.

The brilliance of the 'successful MMO' scheme; even if it's bested, it has to be so much better that a large portion of it's player base migrates away.

Of course getting to the 'successful MMO' part of the plan is tricky in the first place.
