A series of writers have come under fire from the gaming community for giving KillZone a score less than 8. Some of the comments were very bold, rude and tasteless. The article, however, points the finger at the media for pushing fans to the point of forming a cult-like following for the game.

A part of the KillZone 2 following has turned fundamentalist. When did fandom stop being fun and start being religious? When reviewers were told that they weren’t doing their job by the fanboy community. As quoted from Only The Games regarding a commenter on the TVG review of KillZone 2, the poster says…“This review embodies the toxic, vile, cheap and nasty wh0re that the gaming media has become. yes, that’s right chris, you’re a wh0re, a nasty, vile, toxic and cheap WH0RE.”

Heh, fanboys. Can't argue with them.

Seriously, flaming critics for giving games a low score is an all time fanboy low, even including the metacritic episode. The reviewer has given his opinion on the pros and cons of the game, and has scored it based on his liking, so who are the fanboys to argue with them? I doubt most of flamers could write a review better than "KIllZoNe 2 ROCks!11!!1 12/10!!1"

Not sure what blaming the 'media' has to do with anything.....after all aren't the journalists part of that click as well?! Truth is that fanboys are like crazy frickin' stalkers.....hunting down their favorite celebrity and rubbing up on cardboard cut outs of them.....in this case it would be Helghast, but hey whatever floats their boat!

I personally enjoy a candle-lit dinner with my cardboard cut out of Solid Snake.

Anyway, I think that critics being given any flak for their reviews is a bit ridiculous. Unless someone is being completely, utterly, and obviously biased towards what they're reviewing without even properly addressing the topic at hand, then I think their opinion should be respected.

Definitely agree. Unfortunately the internet is full of people with no damn respect for anyone or anything!! I would love to see some of these chicken shits get a knock on the door and answer it only to see the journalist standing outside asking him to discuss his opinions in the open like a gentleman. They'd probably piss their pants! LMAO

+1 for admitting to your cardboard cut out addiction.....it's ok man, I'm here for you!! LOL

While there is nothing wrong with giving a game a low-score, you HAVE to back that up with LEGITIMATE reasons. While most publications have done this, I found Edge's review incredibly poor in that aspect, particularly in reference to enemy AI - the one part of the game that has been universally praised by all other publications.

I'll give another example - Edge magazine (familiar trend here:p) gave God Of War an 8/10, which is a good score, no doubt. Their main criticism was that it was too short. However, they gave God Of War II a 7/10. Their main criticism? It was too long!

In cases like that, it's simply bone-idle, nonsensical gaming journalism that gets up peoples noses, not the scores themselves.
